Whoever takes the Saints job should demand a 5 or 6 year deal b/c it'll take 2 years of cuts and trades just to clean that cap up. He's gonna have to have enough job security that he isn't going to be sent packing if he can't produce a .500 team in his 3rd season.

Then again, the GM in NO sounds a little crazy b/c he said, that there is no "blowing this thing up and starting over", and that there won't be wholesale roster changes. Not sure how else he plans on trimming 70M off the cap in the next 6 weeks, but...

Yeah, and realistically more than 70 mil. Trimming 70 mil just gets them back to even so I would say they need to somehow clear close to 100 mil to really expect to fill the roster.
And they are going to need a QB1 at some point. Does Winston return now that Payton is gone? Maybe to show what he has to potential teams out there or mayve he tests free agency. Tough to do coming off the injury but these days, the injury concerns aren't the same. Cam Jordan? Do they move him? A ton of question marks in New Orleans right now.

Houston is attempting to tank 100% for Young/Stroud with Smith who is a horrible head coach. Meanwhile they can show the diversity hire and then hire a white guy (lol, can't believe we're here these days.... so stupid) without repercussion in 2023, lol.
