Staley and McGlinchey were first round picks but what you posted was that if he was any good he wouldn't have been a senior playing college football. Now to justify your bipolar irrational thinking the person has to be a top 15 first round pick. I'm going to have faith in people with more knowledge than either of us on his talent level.
You don't draft seniors in the top of the first round There is a reason they are seniors

Derrick Brown a Senior, and Justin Herbert a Senior that is two guys in the top 10 of this year's draft your notion is purely false.

Colton McKivitz OT out of West Virginia seems like a solid O-linemen in the 5th round.

For a cheap price at that

It makes sense now that Staley is 'officially' retired, but they also have to find a way to sign him long term.....I guess the money saved from Staley's retirement is a start.

The fact that they got him as a 1-yr stopgap means that even if he leaves, we still get a 3rd rd comp pick in his place...so essentially he cost us a 5th rd pick. We get an upgrade at LT, paying essentially the same salary cost as Staley. We get an opportunity to re-negotiate a contract with him if we choose...or let him walk for a 3rd rd pick, but the time this bought the organization to figure out what best to do post-Staley is invaluable.

Even for a rental it's not a lot to have given up
I expect an extension is coming. Or the use of a franchise tag

If they do extend Williams,( Okay even if they don't) then I'm looking hard at Wyatt Davis Ohis St in 2021

I think Durban has a good point in that we would get decent comp. (from a flawed system) if we can't extend Williams.

In other news, Marquis Goodwin traded to Philly and a 6th for their 6th......at least they got something out of it.

Agree I kind of felt the same way about Sanders wanted him back but in that offense the 49ers will be getting a high comp pick probably a 4th rounder but potentially a 3rd.

Moved up some in the 6th round is very very little.

So, a status quo draft experience.
Fill in the holes from trades, FA and retirement
Good thing we're in a pretty good place

Better than nothing, which Goodwin was basically this year.

It's something but not much. They got about what I expected for Breida which isn't too bad for an undrafted free agent.

To get anything for Goodwin....in what is called the deepest draft for receivers....is a bonus. Also saves $5M on the cap, which woulda hit had we just released him.
