Played mostly in the Wildcat formation. 2010: Did not play football. Was starting point guard for basketball team, averaging 12.8 points per game. Analysis

Strengths

Bursts off the line -- eliminates cushion and threatens vertically. Field-fast -- accelerates in a hurry and turns over a fluid stride. Highly athletic. Excellent balance and agility. Gets in and out of cuts quickly. Good hands. Can turn a short throw into a long gain. Is not afraid to work the middle and take a hit to make a play. Tough and competitive. Has traits to be considered as a kick returner. Highly respected with special intangibles -- leads by example and is smart, determined and hardworking. Weaknesses

Is short and small-framed -- durability could be an issue. Could stand to become a more nuanced route runner. Can be outmuscled in a crowd -- not a go-up-and-get-it guy. Limited run strength. Underpowered blocker. Too often was a non-factor -- was held to one catch or less in five games as a junior. Was not a home-run hitter in the return game. Split his time with basketball. Bottom Line

A two-sport athlete who has already graduated, Ellington opted to forgo basketball and his senior football season to enter the draft. While he lacks desirable height and might not be an elite tester, Ellington brings explosiveness, hands and playmaking ability to the slot. Arrow is pointing up, and his desirable intangibles inspire confidence he'll reach his potential, especially now that he's able to focus solely on football.

I don't understand getting a WR.. He will never play this year unless he is strictly special teams. Crabtree-Boldin-Johnson-Patton-Ellington

I don't think Lloyd makes it at this point unless he dominates this offseason

He's a very good punt return.

Short arms which is rare for a Baalke pick, but he makes up for it with his vertical and he has bball skills.

I think he was a long shot before the draft anyway.

Hmmm....that's a big project for the Seahawks. He's a borderline "guy without a true position" in my opinion. I love that pick as a 49ers fan.

After the comments made by Balkee last night, I am not sure what they are going to do for KR/PR.. I would love to have someone different then James so I hope it works!

For me, I really like Patton and I think he needs more chances and with all these WR's I don't see him getting much unless we plan on running more 3, 4 and 5 WR sets

I'm sure Alex Boone and Cassius March will get along just fine.

Maurice Alexander to the Rams.. He was suspended for an assault charge back in 2012. Coaches gave him credit for turning his life around after that though. He is a big time hitter. I don't know if I've ever seen him miss a tackle when his technique is sound. Maybe, but not often at all. He will flat blow you up and can move a bit too.

Russell Bodine to the Bengals. He needs to play with more consistency. Needs to become more of a technician. I'd be disappointed in that pick this early if I were the Bengals fans.
