He can run block the holes he and Nelson created for Notre Dame running backs were like highways.
While i WAS thinking defense all the way, i know how important OT's are. They are tough to get so why not now.

Don't like it. It should be defense, defense, defense. SF really needs to rebound in this draft for my liking.
I agree they need defensive players but you are paying your QB 37 million dollars this year keeping the pocket clean for him is as important as anything else. Also the draft isn't over yet.
Garoppolo himself kept the pocket clean. The tackle does nothing defensively, or leadership. It'll be a good pick if Staley packs up and retires in the very near future or if SF is gonna move T. Brown.
Well Brown is a free agent after this year. He was a two year captain at Notre Dame so he does have leadership skills.
Yeah....sorry.....this guy could be Anthony Munoz and I'd have a hard time getting on board.

Yeah, my hope was defense, defense, then two OL in round 3. But you have to take the best value and apparently they felt this was it. I'm ok with it as we DO need to protect Jimmy G, else it is 0-x all over again.
Again, Garapollo makes up for offensive deficiencies, and I see him as truly a game changer. In that case, just load up on defense and win games 24-17 week in, week out. Now I have to believe that SF will just go full on with defense with guys dropping.
OK....After sleeping on it, and a few beers.....I hate the pick less. After reading reports that the brass might be bothered by Trent Brown being out of shape and a pending FA, Staley in the middle of the back 9, I can see the logic behind it. For whatever reason, my guy Landry wasn't selected (which is surprising...it's gotta be medical-oriented) and Oliver and Josh Jackson are still available. Unfortunately, SF don't pick until the back end of the 2nd, so they're gonna have to make moves to get one.
In the end, I'll roll with Mike McGlinchey.
The McGlinchey pick makes more sense now. The FO knew that Brown was way out of shape and since he's entering his FA year we'd either have to tag him (um, no) or pay him very high bucks--something they're reluctant to do b/c of his effort level and conditioning. I get it.Trying to trade Brown for draft capital. They would like a 2nd rounder but I don't know if they will get it.
There are tweets out there that several teams had medical flags on Landry about his knee and back. For whatever reason, my guy Landry wasn't selected (which is surprising...it's gotta be medical-oriented) and Oliver and Josh Jackson are still available. Every year, there's a guy that falls out of RD 1 that all the "experts" said was a 1st rd lock. Looks like Jackson and Landry are those guys this year. OTOH, there's a guy that gets poicked in the first where everybody says "WHO??"....this year that was Seattle taking Penney.
No doubt, there are some furious moves being made at the top of rd 2.
Well I guess that makes sense, regarding Landry. Too bad, cause I think he'd be a legit edge wrecker. Josh Jackson is definitely a guy I'd be interested in getting tonight, and I'm still high on I. Oliver.
I also just read that the Niners and Pats are potentially working on a deal for Trent Brown. Hopefully something can happen tonight so we can grab at least one of those defenders.
