While calling it "historical" seems a little sensationalistic, this really should be seen as a good thing. As a society, we need to just accept people for who they are and realize that them being gay, trans or whatever has no real effect on who we are. Live and let live. Maybe while we are at it, educate ourselves and knock off the stereotypes and prejudices that keep people from feeling free to come out and be their true selves.
