A.J. Jenkins - WR - 49ers

CSN Bay Area believes A.J. Jenkins will enter training camp with a "slight lead" over Quinton Patton to start opposite Anquan Boldin.

By most accounts, Jenkins has had a strong offseason on the heels of his lost rookie campaign. Patton is drawing a ton of hype in fantasy circles, but he'll have to be unequivocally better than 2012 first-rounder Jenkins to win the starting job. We give the edge to Jenkins. Related: Quinton Patton

Arians: 'No doubt' Mendenhall is the starter

Coach Bruce Arians said there's "no doubt" Rashard Mendenhall is the Cardinals' No. 1 running back.

During OTAs and minicamp, Mendenhall ran as the clear feature back. Arians appears to have zero interest in giving Ryan Williams, Stepfan Taylor or Andre Ellington a legit chance to compete. "He took me personally to a Super Bowl, and I know what he can bring to the table as a runner and a pass protector and also a receiver," Arians said of his former first-round pick in Pittsburgh. "He's an every-down player. And I think he's looking forward to having an outstanding season."

Sam Bradford - QB - Rams

Sam Bradford says there's a "sense of speed" in the Rams' revised offense.

"With the speed we've brought in, it really allows us to open things up and put other teams in a bind," said Bradford. "I've been waiting for this ... There's just a sense of speed now." The Rams have certainly added speed in the last 14 months with Chris Givens (4.35 forty), Tavon Austin (4.34), and Jared Cook (4.49). Bradford, entering what some are classifying as a make-or-break year, will look to build on his strong finish to the 2012 season.

Russell Wilson - QB - Seahawks

ESPN's John Clayton believes Russell Wilson's pass attempts will be capped at 26-28 per game this season.

It's an extremely low number in today's NFL. Last season, 21 quarterbacks averaged at least 30 attempts per game while Wilson was at 24.5. Still, he finished as fantasy's No. 10 quarterback thanks to 489 rushing yards, four rushing scores and a 26:10 TD-to-INT ratio. Wilson is a poor bet to throw for 4,000 yards in Seattle's run-heavy scheme, but he's firmly inside the QB1 tier.

Jared Cook - TE - Rams

Coach Jeff Fisher said the Rams plan to use TE Jared Cook "all over the place."

"We've even got him in the backfield, so we've got some good things for him," Fisher said. "We’re excited about creating mismatches." Both Fisher and ex-Titans teammate, and current Rams teammate, CB Cortland Finnegan believe Cook has found "it" recently. "Night and day difference," said Finnegan. "He’s been tearing it up [in OTAs] like I've never seen." Cook and Sam Bradford are working out together this summer, and both are primed for breakout seasons.

Vernon Davis - TE - 49ers

The 49ers have "some new wrinkles" planned for Vernon Davis, but he isn't moving to wide receiver full-time.

Davis practiced exclusively with the receivers during minicamp, but he isn't suddenly going to make a full-on position switch. The former No. 6 overall pick has unique field-stretching skills unlike many other tight ends, so featuring him as a wideout in the absence of Michael Crabtree (Achilles') makes sense. Expect Davis to be moved all around the formation. He's locked in as a TE1.

Sam Bradford - QB - Rams

After 2012 tape study, ESPN's Ron Jaworski cites Sam Bradford's "lack of efficiency in the red zone" and his "struggles with basic blitz concepts" as things holding him back.

"Too many interceptions," Jaworski continued. "And it's a red zone game. You can't be a high-level quarterback if you can't execute there." Over the course of his first three seasons, Bradford has completed just 46.4 percent of his red zone passes for 541 yards, 29 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. The eight interceptions are second-most in the league over that span, one behind Eli Manning. Jaws says "there's never been a question about Bradford's arm talent," and added that he has the "throwing skill set to be a top-ten passer in this league." The Rams hope that supplying him with better weapons helps correct most of the issues the offense has had near the end zone in recent years.

This is one of the best players on their roster, he's one of plenty I am afraid of:

Bobby Wagner - LB - Seahawks

New Seahawks DC Dan Quinn has been impressed with MLB Bobby Wagner's offseason.

"The guy who’s had a really good offseason is Wagner, in terms of the approach and that kind of stuff," Quinn said. "One of the things that kind of fires you up about a guy like him is his approach, like, ‘OK, what are some things I need to do better?’ He’s totally trying to get his game to a spot that he aspires to go to, which is a cool thing." Wagner's 140 tackles last season were a Seahawks rookie record, and seventh in the entire league. The 2012 second-rounder should be an IDP dynamo.

Percy Harvin - WR - Seahawks

ESPN 710 says to "not necessarily" expect Percy Harvin to go over 1,000 receiving yards this season.

The Seahawks haven't had a 1,000-yard receiver since Bobby Engram did it in 2007. Of course, they haven't had a dynamic wideout/quarterback duo like Harvin and Russell Wilson during that span. Even though we're only projecting Harvin for 1,081 yards in Seattle's run-heavy scheme, we still like him as a low-end WR1 because of Wilson's red-zone efficiency and Harvin's explosive versatility. The Seahawks didn't give up a first-round pick and pay Harvin $25.5 million guaranteed so he can be a decoy.

LaMichael James - RB - 49ers

CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco would put "money" on Kendall Hunter receiving more 2013 carries than LaMichael James.

This assumes Hunter's health cooperates after a 2012 Achilles' tear. James was largely unimpressive when we went back and reviewed his rookie-year tape this offseason, running hesitantly inside the tackles and looking far more like a change-up back and kickoff returner than future NFL lead running back.

pretty sure most of us respect the Seahawks as a legit contender, which obviously includes you. but do you have to say it like that?

on the flip side, there are more 9er players that Seattle fans are "afraid" of.

Yes I did have to say that. He, Antoine Winfield in the slot to go along with their elite defensive back unit is not a pleasant sign to see.

How do you know that we have more players they need to be afraid as opposed to the other way around? Did you take a poll of all the fans representing both of these teams? How do you measure something so subjective?

John Abraham - DL - Free Agent

According to XTRA 910 Phoenix, free agent DE/OLB John Abraham is visiting the Cardinals Wednesday.

Abraham remains on the street because of playing time and salary demands. With training camp here, perhaps he's willing to come back to reality. At age 35, Abraham could play a situational pass-rushing role for the Cardinals, shifting to outside linebacker for the first time in his career to accommodate their 3-4. Projected starting OLBs Sam Acho and Lorenzo Alexander combined for just 6.5 sacks last year. Abraham posted 10 by himself.

Eric Winston - T - Cardinals

Cardinals agreed to terms with RT Eric Winston on a one-year contract.

The top offensive tackle left on the street is finally off the board. Although the 29-year-old Winston has been released in each of the last two offseasons, he brings 103 NFL starts to the table and was a top-nine right tackle in Pro Football Focus' grades while with the Chiefs last year. He'll start at right tackle, allowing Bobby Massie to move inside to right guard. Nate Potter will enter a camp duel with consistently disappointing Levi Brown for the starting left tackle job. The Cardinals' offensive line is still a bottom-five unit, but they got better by adding Winston.

John Abraham - DL - Cardinals

Cardinals signed DE/OLB John Abraham, formerly of the Falcons, to a two-year contract.

Abraham, 35, visited the Cardinals Wednesday, and they had a contract offer out to him later that night. After missing several games due to injury while with the Jets early in his career, Abraham has missed just two games over the last six seasons. With 122 career sacks, he's the league's active leader. Abraham is easily the Cardinals' top edge rusher, and his addition may be the final nail in the coffin of OLB O'Brien Schofield. The Cardinals may limit his snaps a bit, but Abraham will be on the field for every key pass-rushing situation.

Arizona Cardinals have average offensive line, plus 2 elite starters, according to PFF - Revenge of the Birds

Still not eye popping as far as their OL goes.

Percy Harvin - WR - Seahawks

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Percy Harvin would "likely" miss the entire 2013 season if a second opinion on his hip shows Harvin indeed needs surgery to repair his labrum tear.

La Canfora allows the second opinion still hasn't been formed -- it will be next Tuesday -- but his season is now in doubt. Early indications suggested Harvin will in all likelihood require surgery. The Seahawks will move forward with Doug Baldwin behind Golden Tate and Sidney Rice, just like last season. Harvin's loss would be quite a blow to Russell Wilson's 2013 fantasy ceiling.
