I think for the most part the first 3 weeks the Cowboys passed to set up the run not the reverse. Using PAP doesn't necessarily mean it was the run setting up the pass. It was clearly the passing game that was successful for them. Then the explosive PAP game opened up the run too as defenses seemed to be expecting and/or afraid of the pass.

I'll give you two guesses as to why that is a topic for discussion...but I suspect you'll only need one...

I strongly disagree. Stupid teams blow picks drafting for need. Good teams select best players. What if you were a GM and the number one guy one your board was Goedert and the best remaining CB was 27th. Would you take the CB? I wouldn’t and everyone is forgetting the run primarily 2 TE set and they just lost Celek to retirement and Trey Burton to FA. It was a need pick too.

The Eagles secondary sucks and yes I would take the best CB on the board to fill the holes. I can find a good TE later in the draft. Is Goddert locking down the other teams WRs that are blowing past the Eagles CBs? Goddert wasn't a need pick when the secondary gets torched every week. Good GMs fill the major holes first.

Let me add that a CB drafted in the second round generally will be a starter week 1, which the Eagles could have used.

The Eagles drafted Sidney Jones in the second round earlier, a first round prospect who missed a year due to injury. So, in their mind, they actually had a second round pick at corner to put into the mix.

Unfortunately, Jones has not been that great, and has continued to get nicked up. They also drafted Avonte Maddox in the third round last year, and Rasul Douglas the year before that.

Honestly, Philly has a lot of numbers at corner. It's just that they need a young guy to step up and so far, no one really has.

I also wonder of Amari Cooper was 100% or not. From what I saw I would say he was not even close to 100%. He is one of the best route runners at the WR position and could not get any separation.

As for replacing Celek you all didn't need to us a 2nd round pick to do so as Celek wasn't putting up great numbers his last couple of seasons. 27 catches on 42 targets is as I said earlier 5th ed to UDFA level production.

Yes. He’s being used for blocking because of the OLine issues. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t have great hands, speed and fantastic athletic ability.

We lost a great blocker in Celek and another really good TE who got a big money deal in Trey Burton. Goedert can fill both their rolls. Obviously the Eagles place heavy importance on TE and most teams don’t. They are a big two TE set team. It was a good pick and a need pick.

I explained it to you already. We don’t know how they graded out their draft board. What if they gave Goedert a top 10 pick in the draft value and didn’t have one CB in the top 50. Their pick comes up and still on the board is a guy they thought was worth a top 10 pick and no CB they liked that high.

You’re style of drafting selects Sam Bowie with the 2nd pick in the draft. My style is taking Michael Jordan. The best teams draft best player. The worst teams draft for need

You don’t know if Goedert was their highest ranked player or not.

TE2? Hell they can't be inportant as even TE1's are seldom drafted high.

For the record, I continue to believe Goedert is going to be really good. He is a second year player who missed time to start the season due to injury. He scored last week and made some very good blocks in the running game. I am going to laugh if he blows up against the Cowboys later this season.
