Explain how landing a potential star who some had being a top 20 pick is drafting out of fear. This proves to me you and Ford refuse to be objective. First you criticize them for taking a position they don’t need. Then you find out the actually did need a TE and you criticize that side too. I thought we could be honest but I guess your MO is just to say anything Philly does was stupid.
Your own team said they jumped Dallas to draft a TE who they thought Dallas wanted.
So yes they drafted out of FEAR.

How was he criticizing me for saying Philly taking Goedert was stupid.

No... he was criticizing your previous statement that teams should draft the best player available and not draft for need.

lol @ people trying to criticize drafting Goedert. He's a beast. Eagles made a great move taking him where he was at. If he didn't go to South Dakota for college he would have been taken in the 1st round. The two best TEs in the NFC East play on the Eagles, having great players is never a bad thing.

33 catches for 334 yards with 4 TDs is now a “beast”.

Bwhahaha

But was drafting Goedert the right move knowing the Eagles D is weak in the secondary and at linebackers? He's a good TE2 and no one is saying he isn't but there's more pressing issues on defense that that pick could have gone too.

Is it just me or has Jordan Reed been in the concussion protocol for 6 years now...

Coach Jay Gruden told reporters Monday that Jordan Reed remains in the concussion protocol.
Reed didn't practice Monday. This is Reed's seventh reported concussion, so it wouldn't be at all surprising if he misses the team's Week 1 matchup against the Eagles. Vernon Davis has consistently taken over as the Redskins' full-time tight end whenever Reed has missed time over the years. Still, this isn't the easiest matchup against Malcolm Jenkins and company, who allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends in 2018.

That makes no sense. Maybe they had him as a top 10 player on their board and moved up to get him. But I know, I know... everything Philly does is stupid and you know what was on their mind. That is so ridiculous to even say. Every time a team moved up to grab a player they wanted is drafting out of fear. I cant even process how stupid that is.

Absolutely drafting Goedert was the right move. He was a first round talent just sitting there. Having him on the Eagles heading into his second year looking incredible all spring and summer is huge for the Eagles this year and all the ensuing years he is on the team.

Like I said. We have no idea. Maybe on their board Goedert was a top 10 pick and any CB that was around they had 3rd round grades on. We cant say definitively on either side. Teams who draft for need suck. Sometimes you have a need and a highly ranked player drops and you get lucky. But they picked up a guy who looks like he has the making of a star and you guys are criticizing them for that.

Eagles put very VERY little value on LBers. Not saying thats the correct strategy but its obvious the regime thinks they are a dime a dozen position.

And what do you do with the wreck of the linebackers and barely average secondary? Wouldn't it have been smarter to draft position of major need?

Yeah if you watched him play. He was heavily underutilized as a rookie for what he was capable of. It has been clear all offseason they intend him to be a big part of the offense this season. If he was the #1 TE somewhere he would be establishing himself as a top 5 TE this season. He might even do that as the #2 TE on a team loaded all across the board on offense. Anytime the ball is thrown to him he makes plays.

No no no. Just listen to the Cowboy fans... it was a stupid move to pick up someone who is looking like he might be a star. And remember, we NEVER run the two TE set and he wont even get 15 snaps a game, not to mention we lost Celek and Trey Burton that draft. But its really really stupid to pick up players who look excellent. You and me are stupid Eagle fans and they know our team better than us.

No, you pick best player. You saying they should skip on a 1st round talent and, hypothetically, take a CB or LB who they had a 4th round grade on. THe worst teams in the league draft need. The best draft best player.

Winning teams do draft for need as every team has holes to fill. Goedert might become a very good player down the line but I think stopping the opposing teams offense is more important than a TE2.

Wentz is so locked in on Ertz is laughable. Take away Ertz and Wentz panics.

Wreck of linebackers? Eagles have never put a heavy value into linebackers but there is no issue with the ones we have. We won a Super Bowl with this level of linebackers two years ago but now we wouldn't be able to? What?

And our secondary is in good shape. Better shape than it was in 2017 and more importantly better shape than it was for much of last year.

When a successful franchise is drafting, the position of need is the best player on the board.

Well thats just stupid. Teams that pass on better player for need historically suck.
