Just for fun, let's say dougie is able to deal patty and jumbo for a giant package of picks and prospects. Here would be the sharks roster already signed or will be signed:

Forwards:

Couture, Pavelski, Wingels, Hertl, Nieto, karlsson, Tierney, Smith (possibly Torres and Brown.)

D:

Vlasic, Braun, Burns, Mueller ( Possibly Dillon)

G:
Stalock (possibly nemo)

The amazing thing is the cap number of those players: 40M (assuming karlsson gets 2.5M per). That's 8 (or 10) forwards, 4 D and 1 G. They would need just 4 forwards, 3 D, and 1G and have 30+M to do it assuming no other call ups like Goldobin, Abeltshauser, O'regan, etc. Seems like they could restock the farm with jumbo and PM and with a few smart signings (one top 4 D like Franson or Green and one or two top 6 forwards like Frolik, Williams, etc. and resigning nemo) they could compete next year for the PO's still and wouldnt have to be bottom feeders while waiting for the big package of picks and prospects to develop.

Suddenly, Im not quite as pessimistic as I was before. The big question in addition to the two big trades, is will dougie choose to and be able to recruit and sign some UFA's to use the gigantic cap space to try to be competitive in the interim.

Whatever happens, its a MUST that Burns moves back to forward. Im fine keeping Thornton if they move Burns back to F and remake the Hertl THornton Burns line... I honstly believe moving him back to D is the main reason for certain forwards downfall in production. Him at F made all the O lines better

Karlsson, Burns and Thornton would be a fucking nightmare for any teams defense to play against size and forecheck pressure would be insane. Drop pavelski back to the second or 3rd line where he belongs that would be nice

Glad you are optimistic Rules, but I'm not. Wilson has made it clear Thornton is not going anywhere, and I doubt they are able to move Marleau now after this shitty season even if they wanted to.
All this cap space is great....if you use it.....and Wilson won't.....he never has and never will.
