The thing is texas has games @ Stillwater, @ Ksu, @ Tech, and OU in Dallas. It will be a harder road next year.

I hope like hell Ash comes back.

So, that if OU knocks him out, they might win the RRS? :wtf2:

I remember history and Randy McEachern. It was 1977, the Sooners and UT were both undefeated and the Longhorns had a new HC. The Sooners knocked out our starting QB with a broken ankle and the #2 with a knee injury. The #3 QB led the Longhorns to victory.

Well Troy Aikman broke his leg and a true freshman came in a won the National Title for OU. It happens.

Also could mention our 3rd string QB named The Hero Major.

Next year we will have 3 good QBs if Ash comes back. Granted 1 will be a true freshman.

Rick McKivor. Cant remember how to spell his name though. We used to play pickup basketball a lot.

Rick McIvor also played for Fred Akers, along with Robert Brewer(his son plays for Tech) and Mark McBath rotated as QBs for Texas.

Homefield has never really been such a big deal for Texas...and frankly they have sometimes played better on the road.

Weirdly, the Horns have lost the last 3 versus OSU in Austin, but they have won the last 3 in Stillwater.

They never lose to Tech. That is one school that Texas flat out owns.
Even the 5-7 team smacked them around in Lubbock.

K-State is a demon for Texas no matter where they play.

I think it is an easier schedule for the Horns. Simply because they get Baylor in Austin if nothing else.
Baylor is invincible at home and pedestrian on the road.

After watching the Military bowl it hit me, Texas should hire Doc Holliday from Marshall. How cool would that be? HC at Texas......Doc Holliday, awesome .

I actually know that #2 qb. Jon Aune was a great team player and was such a positive influence on the team.

Isnt much success????
you guys crack me up.

Mack Brown was WILDLY successful.
Heck we pushed him out the door for having the audacity to finish 7-2 in league play.
We might live to rue the day we are so arrogant and spoiled by Mack's success.
Mack is a VICTIM of his own phenomenal success.

Texas was the only school ranked in every BCS poll from 1998-2010.
Texas won 9 or more games for 12 straight years.
Texas won 10 or more games for 9 straight years.
Texas finished in the top 15 12 times.
Texas won 10 bowl games.
Texas produced a Heisman winner, DPOY, and every other major award.
Texas won a National title and played for another.
Texas won 3 BCS bowl games.
Texas never got on probation or any NCAA sanctions.
Texas went from a nothing faded relic to the #1 brand.
Texas expanded the stadium 3 times.
Texas got its own television network.

What the hell else do we expect??????
I am terrified that the next coach will not even come close.
---------
Which leads me to believe more and more Texas won't hire or get a "brand name". There aren't many if any out there available that would want to compete against that legacy AND deal with regents/boosters.

His nephew Austin Aune was supposed to play QB for TCU in 2012, but when the Yankees offered him a $1 million, he decided baseball was the place for him.

I could be wrong about Austin being his nephew.

I have no idea why y'all like the Vandy coach.
He took a really crappy team and made them kinda decent. Is that IN ANY WAY a qualification for the Texas job? WTF?

It's a matter of results while taking into account what he had to work with.

Right:

Results: mediocre. Not acceptable at UTexas. He will have to have elite results.
What he had to work with: mediocre recruits. Not the case at UTexas. He will have to get 'best' from elite recruits.

So, your standards are NOT A FIT AT ALL for UTexas.

Made them into a top 5 ranked team, in fact.

next question?

UNC

Before Mack Brown
1984 5-5-1
1985 5-6
1986 7-4-1
1987 5-6

Mack Brown's first two years at North Carolina
1988 1-10
1989 1-10

So, Mack Brown took a crappy team and made them kinda decent.

Ranked in the top 5 most of 1997, 1 loss, and only ranked #6 at end of year because AP in their infinite wisdom ranked two 2-loss teams above them.

1 loss, Gator Bowl win, and #6 in the nation is not "kinda decent".

Try again, brainiac.
