To be fair (banned, I know), I know that I personally would be a horrible fan in this situation. When I'm nervous just at home I'm quiet and sit on my hands, metaphorically speaking. I'll get loud when a goal is scored or I can start to loosen up (which, as a Pens fan, is never), or I'll join in on a "Let's GO" chant...but yeah, other than that, not a lot. I'm too stressed.

Maybe that was the plan? The flyers certainly feed off energy in the building. Positive or negative.

I was the opposite in those times (was at the game though). I would try to start chants every 2 minutes or so in this situation. One game I got so pissed when everyone was so quiet, I tried to start my 8th chant or so with nothing and screamed out "You all suck. You are going to pay hundreds of dollars to come here and sit on your hands and not support the team. You should all be ashamed of yourselves" or something similar. I got so many dirty looks some comments. The one that stuck out to me was "who do you think we are, canadian fans?" I thought it would backfire, but I tried another one about 4 minutes later and it actually worked and people joined in.

I didn't do it again, but seriously, it is the playoffs.
