And where is this candidate?A quiet, well-respected no-nonsense type Black head coach who has the respect of the young black athletes in the mold of Tomlin or Bowles.

No, not solely, but he is an authority figure on that team and gets some of the fault for the atmosphere there in Cincy.
There isn't exactly a big pool of top candidates thus year. Even Gase who was considered a top prospect is no sure thingToby won't be happy but I will.
As was pointed out this morning, Cincy drafted players with known issues. It came back to bite them yesterdayI get where you are saying, but an authority figure could only do so much. Much like parents advising their children not to drink and drive or text, but yet they do it and eventually something happens bad. Burfict and Jones cost the Bengals the win.

He just got fired in TampaAnd where is this candidate?
Take a guy who has failed at last stops and doesn't coach offense. That makes alot of senseHe just got fired in Tampa
With Gase signed on with the 'Fins our choices get slimmer. There isn't exactly a big pool of top candidates thus year. Even Gase who was considered a top prospect is no sure thing
Don't be silly. He is one of the best coaches in football and his teams play defense and are disciplined. His firing was inexplicable. He was turning that doormat team around.Take a guy who has failed at last stops and doesn't coach offense. That makes alot of sense
He is not one of the best coaches in football. And Dungy? Lol. You are going to dust Dungy off? What an awful move that would be given the state of our offenseDon't be silly. Another guy I'd consider, if he'd take the job, would be Dungy.

Again, Don't be silly; Smith is a fine coach and has the attributes the 49ers need. This team needs to be built around defense and a ball-control offense so its "yes" to Dungy. He is not one of the best coaches in football. And Dungy? Lol. You are going to dust Dungy off? I'm not sure. Last I heard he was scouring the Great Pyramids with a magnifying glass searching for clues as to what happened to Moses' grain.Ben Carson may be available.
Lol. Dungy hasn't coached since 2008 and couldn't win super bowl without Manning. Gruden had to do that. That is even assuming he even wants to coach. Love is a good coach but not what this team needs most at this point.Again, Don't be silly; Smith is a fine coach and has the attributes the 49ers need. He's too young and inexperienced for a team that lacks any kind of discipline like the 49ers.He's actually a decent coach. The only one on the staff worth keeping around although I doubt the Browns will. He's very young but he'll be a big name in a few years with the right team.
