*The thought that the shoe/uniform sponsor has anything to do with winning football games is kind of funny. Maybe in basketball, but football no. **Nike exerts influence in basketball because of the summer league stuff trying to send top recruits to nike sponsored schools

*
**The Opening Finals

"The Opening Finals presented by Nike Football is four days of dynamic training, coaching and competition for many of the country’s most elite high school football players. Every position and every aspect of the game will be highlighted over the course of the four-day program. Past events have featured NFL stars like Jerry Rice, Larry Fitzgerald, Ndamukong Suh, Marshawn Lynch, Aaron Rodgers, Richard Sherman and Darrelle Revis coaching participants in a variety of drills and competitions"

You could say coaching changes might possibly be a part of that. Crazy thought and all.

I'm confused why Oregon hasn't won the last five titles if all it takes is to be THE nike flag bearer. Since they're obviously the coolest and all.

Nobody said that Nike is all it takes. Consider this though...up until 1997, Oregon's all-time record was 465-420-47 (0.52414), which puts them at #67. That was when Phil Knight got the crew together at Nike to come up with new uniforms for Oregon. Since that time, they are 164-53 (0.75576), good for 4th best in that time period. That's quite a turnaround. This article is pretty good on the topic:
The substance and style have helped attract better players, said retired Oregon defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti, who served in that capacity from 1999 to 2013.

"It was the uniforms at first, the helmets and the uniforms that caught their attention," he said. "Initially, it helped us get visits from kids that were four-star and five-star (recruits).

"Way back when we were a second-class citizen, coaches would say, 'Don't even look at these guys because they're not for you. They're not SC and Alabama. Now when we show up, we have the strongest hand. On the West Coast, we carry the largest trump card."

Behind Oregon's (Phil) Knight in shining armor

Money...Phil Knight built their program. Duck donors didn't do it (other than Knight). Just because they wear nike didn't build that program. I'm unconvinced. I say good coaching and great recruiting is what gets it done. Nobody does it better than Nebraska. I believe it.

They can talk all the shit in the world they want to but that didn't win championships.

I'm gutted that Frost works for those guys. It hurts given the circumstances.

I hope Frost gets stuck in a mountain pass traffic jam. With no bottles of water. Take that.

With love, Sandhill

And when he finally hits Denver, I hope he gets chills up his spine, across his shoulders, up the side of his neck and across his temples when he finally gets to take a piss.

Then loses the recruiting battle to Mike Reilly and CO.

Noah Fant on the radio now saying that gear plays a role in his decision. He said it won't make his decision but it is a consideration.

I'm a little out of touch with youth apparently. In hindsight, probably wouldn't get so much discussion if there's nothing to it.

Am I the only one that thinks Oregons unis always look like baby poop green and yellow. I don't think that there is anything cool about them but I am old 29.

Fuck Creighton.
