My wife and I joined Blue Moon Fitness. Many cardio and weight machines and free weights as well. $1 to join, no contract, $10 per month. Many older folks my age and a mix with young ones. My biggest surprise is that my wife wanted to go to the gym with me. We can watch TV while on the cardio as each machine has one. My dilemma now is whether to watch Sports Center in CC mode, or buy earphones and shut out the wife from talking to me. If we spent an extra $10 per month each we can use the massage chairs and movie theater cardio room. I am not sure if it is worth it. I enjoyed going to work out last night and hope to start shedding pounds. They also have an isolation room only for heavier women that don't want to be watched while working out.

Update
So far, I have dropped 10lbs. @ 5lbs. per week. It is a good thing because I set a record for being my heaviest before I started going to the gym.

Enjoy it while it lasts. I started exercising and cut fried foods and red meats for the most part from my diet. Added a lot more veggies and try to control my addiction to starches.

The first few weeks I shed pounds like that. After a month or so though it dropped to a pound or two a week. The thing to remember though is a pound or two a week is a pound or two a week. They add up and keep you going in the right direction.

My problem was the holidays and football season trashed everything I lost the rest the year previous.
Now I'm back to being a good boy and hopefully next year I'll remember what the cost is.

You get me some of that cholesterol free beef and I'll be grillin' every night. Until then, one triple bypass is enough.

edit: also gave up the smokes after 35 some years of puffing on them. Knew they caused lung cancer, never knew they clogged your veins too.

My rule is cardio for 1 straight hour each time I go to the Jim. And I try to get there 5 times a week, but fail on that some times.

I'm gonna be 30 years old soon and I'm getting at that age where it starts and I want ta make sure I'm heart-healthy when I hit that mid 40's range.

I do at least 35 minutes on the elliptical almost every day (I'd say 4 out of 5 days during the week and once on weekends. That'll get me two miles. I'll go 50 minutes pretty often to get 3 miles and just say hell with it and go an hour once in a while.

But I got the elliptical at home. If I had to get off my ass to get to a gym it'd never happen.

Forsake all beverages except for water. Your body will respond with less joint pain, less campus and more weight loss.

I do know that bourbon is not conducive to weight loss. I had to cut way back.

When I started cutting weight a few years ago the first thing I did was switch to wager only. I cut 13 pounds in the first week.

Let's not get carried away here, this sounds like a horrible idea. I say eat, drink, and be merry because you never know when your time is up. A nice glass of bourbon sounds a lot better as a last meal than a nice glass of water.

That's funny. That's about the same thing the 400 pound woman on the electric cart at Walmart said. Think she might be going for the diet coke.

Fuck that. I'd rather enjoy in moderation. I can guarantee you don't enjoy much for about 6 months after they Crack your ribs open and lay all your organs out on the table.
Make the right choices and it's a second chance.

2 gallons?! Shit I drink four 20 ounce bottles a day and I gotta pee all the time. I'd have to wear a diaper if I drank 2 gallons

oh yeah it sucks. But the colder the water the more calories it burns and it helps fight hunger pains. Which for me is huge I hate being hungry and if I am at least drinking water it tricks my brain into thinking that I am eating.
