@HaroldSeattle @bamagrad75 could you merge these 2 threads?
Gilmore worked out pretty good. So who knows?Shades of Gilmore.
I meant Gilmore had a knee injury which precluded his resigning because he didn't want to prove his knee was healthy or sign an incentive based contract.Gilmore worked out pretty good. So who knows?
I wouldn't sign him. Two of the three teams he has been on improved after he left. The other we will have to see after another year or two. Teammates didn't post afterward how upset they were he left making me believe they were happy he was gone. I also wouldn't want to pair him with a young QB. He has in the past been the type to show he will get after a young QB for not throwing his way 15 times a game. I think this move could actually stunt the growth of Maye more than help.My guess about Diggs is this......
Dinner last night with Vrabel, Eliot and Cowden. Let's see where his head is now that he's been on three teams and had ACL surgery.
Physical today. How much time will it take before he can rehab and be on the field? Both for practice and/or games.
Then come the questions....
How long will he be sidelined? Camp and Preseason? Mid-September? Mid-October?
Can he be signed for a reasonable salary?
He'll be 32 in October. 1 Year short money and little risk? Take a shot and sign him for two at low guarantee and big incentives and control his demeanor?
What's reasonable? $12M/ $14M? IF the Patriots offer is low, will he walk away and present it to another team? KC? Pittsburgh? NYJ? OR
Do the Patriots make a strong offer and guarantee for two years.
If and only IF......The medical people think his knee is solid and he'll be ready by Week 4?
Well saidI wouldn't sign him. Two of the three teams he has been on improved after he left. The other we will have to see after another year or two. Teammates didn't post afterward how upset they were he left making me believe they were happy he was gone. I also wouldn't want to pair him with a young QB. He is a talent don't get me wrong, but don't think that talent especially at 32 coming off injury outweighs the headache.
FYI...............................
Diggs left Foxboro and nothing has been said.
1. He tore the ACL in late October 2024. We're in Late March 2025. 5 Months since. Normal rehab turnaround = 9 months = July 2025.
2. He can take the physical report, if good, and see if there is more money than was discussed with the Patriots. Risky.
3. Or both decided to wait for a couple of months and see where he and the knee are in May 2025, about the time the OTAs begin.
4. It's called due diligence and the result is common sense.
