Notre Dame ranks No. 1 in graduation success rates, according to figures released Thursday by the NCAA.

From 2002-05, 97 percent of Irish football players graduated within the six-year window that the NCAA measures. The GSR number for all Irish athletes rank first among FBS schools.

Notre Dame leads the country in four GSR categories: all athletes (99), male athletes (98), female athletes (100, tied with Wake Forest) and football players (97, tied with Northwestern).

On Wednesday, Manti Te'o was selected a national scholar-athlete by the National Football Foundation, receiving an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship and becoming one of 15 finalists for the Campbell Trophy, often referred to as the "academic Heisman."

Te'o is the 17th Irish player to receive the scholarship and third in the last six years, joining John Carlson (2007) and Chris Stewart (2010). The graphic-design major has a 3.32 GPA and is scheduled to graduate in December.

ND can't recruit like other schools because of those high acedemic standards so they miss out on most of that Texas/Florida speed. Lack of team speed has been their problem. We will see a great example of that vs Oklahoma a team loaded down with speedy players.
