From what I have seen the Vegas odds-makers have the Cavs as the favorite to win the title right now....

Vegas Insider
Cavs 3-1
GSW 18-5
Hawks 7-1
Spurs 8-1
Bulls 12-1
Grizzlies 12-1

Those represent the most common odds. I did see instances where Golden State was 3-1 and Cleveland 4-1....but it seemed at the very least- it was a consensus of the Cavs and Warriors as the distinct favorites to win the title as of right now at the All-Star Break.

Cleveland wouldn't even have home-court in the first round right now and they're the favorites? I'm more worried about the Raptors and a healthy Bulls than I am the Cavaliers.

Even though I have a ticket with the Hawks to win the East (as my summer darkhorse)...
If I keep the ticket (30-1), I will root like crazy for Atlanta.

I honestly agree with Cleveland. They should win the East.
You need SUPERSTARS to win the playoffs.

Not just all-stars or good players....you need a dominant alpha player.
You need a transcendent likely HOF player with years of playoff scars to draw upon.

Even my Spurs from last season (who were the closest since 2004 Detroit) still had the SUPERSTAR muscle memory of Tim Duncan to take over in spots.

They spread the ball around, but many times when there were moments....Pop just let Tony, Tim, or Manu hog the ball. That part was forgotten in all the unselfish highlight reels.

The Hawks, Wizards, and Raptors simply don't have an established playoff tested superstar.
The Bulls have Rose, but he seems unlikely to step up as he seems mentally at odds with himself.

The CAVS are the only eastern team that fits the profile.

3-1 seems a bit generous for Cle. I guess we still get no respect.

The odds are higher than west teams because they have a much easier path.

I personally agree with them as the east favorites rougher now but I'm obviously biased.

Doubt the Cavs should be the favourites right now, as others have said they don't even have home court advantage right now.

Cavs got off to a poor start, which shouldn't be too surprising, since they have a lot of new players this year and they have since then also addressed some of their roster deficiencies by adding Mozgov, Smith, and Shumpert. Personally, I think that they are the favorites.

I am surprised, however, that Memphis is 12-1. Wouldn't mind taking that bet.

To me I don't even know who the favorite is. Maybe the spurs? I don't know

I'm not claiming to know with certainty. Just my opinion that the Cavs have the best roster for winning playoff series.

Definitely hazardous to bet against the Spurs. I just think that age may have finally caught up with them.

Your Warriors are also, of course, a potentially dangerous team. Really enjoy watching them, but I'm skeptical of whether their ability to defend down low is good enough to win it all.

Memphis is my favorite long shot. Gasol and Zebo provide a formidable low post presence. Mike Connoly's game has been slipping a bit since he got dinged up, but their backup PGs are very solid. Also really like Tony Allen's game. If Courtney Lee steps up more consistently, I think Mamphis could really be a tough out in the playoffs.

Here are the current odds I'm finding:

Cleveland 4:1
Warriors 5:1
Spurs 7:1
Hawks 7.5:1
Bulls 8.5:1
Thunder 11:1
Memphis 12:1

No one else under 20:1. That's at scoresandodds. I see Bovada is pretty close to this but has the Thunder at 8:1.

Yup. Memphis is defiantly a tough out all the time. They're balanced. Also warriors should be able to defend down low with Bogut playing. To me at the deadline the missing pieces are. A backup big who can defend and a knockdown shooter off the bench

Home court advantage barely matters anymore. Cleveland is deservedly the favorites.

Homecourt really matters actually. That's why mostly 1-3 seeds mostly win titles

Those 1-3 seeds win because they are the best teams, not because they get to play 4 out of 7 games at home.
