Yeah, there's something missing with these teams that they win 100+ games every year, then flameout in the playoffs. I don't think Roberts is the problem, but I'm not sure he's the solution either.

It would be tough to fire him after this season because the Dodgers didn't address any needs in the off-season so they can make a run at Ohtani this off-season. Also, as @Stakesarehigh said, they lost 3 of their best pitchers and had 3 rookies pitching significant innings. Not a recipe for playoff success.

The only thing that really surprised me was Kershaws meltdown in game 1. I know he's been pretty average in the playoffs, but he couldn't even get out of the 1st inning.

At least with Buehler, Urias, Gonsolin, and May the Dodgers could have instilled some confidence. The rookies really stepped up this year, but too much too soon. The Lynn acquisition was a band-aid at best and the hitting didn't show up anyway. Sigh.

How much of that payroll was even active? $34M on the injured list and Urias' $14M suspended, plus they're still paying $33M to Bauer and Syndergaard. Still $160M to $119M, but not quite as exaggerated as you implied.

phew yea...Kershaw with a 4.49 postseason ERA now.

By comparison JV has gotten flack for his WS performances but he's a 3.54 overall.
