Jacobs would love that as well. Right now he’s being held hostage by a bad organization with a Mickey Mouse coaching staff and that’s why he won’t sign the tag.
Pretty sure most teams have spent the majority of their cap space....

The Raiders hold all the leverage here unless he plans to pull a Bell....and that didn't work out well for him.

Of course they do! They can hold him hostage next year too. The rules say they can put the cap on him again next year. That’s another 700 touches and another 600 hits on his tires wasted for a go nowhere poorly run franchise.

Every single player in the NFL has reduced leverage. FA is only truly experienced for a small number of players. This is even worse at the RB position right now.

He isn't the only RB who could be avail ....

Barkley, Cook (currently a FA), and Jacobs.
Giants would have to drop the tag on Barkley like you said in the Jacobs hypothetical and Cook is facing a legal issue that involves domestic violence. Past practice says that he could be facing a suspension. That likely gets in the way of him being able to negotiate a landing spot right now.

So he is worth 8 mill right now. Add 2 years where he earns 20 mill....not going to cry for him when he is playing a position that isn't as important as it used to be.

Cook has had offers and has said he is taking his time on picking his next team.

Helps to know what you are talking about.

The prime of his career is being wasted getting beat up running behind garbage vs stacked fronts because the QB is garbage too.

Funny fightin is arguing this since he has said he personally is not a fan of signing RB's to big contracts....

And all of those offers are subpar because of his recently revealed legal issues. Everybody following this was scratching their heads over why he wasn’t signed yet. Then this week the word gets out about the domestic violence case and things started to make sense for why he wasn’t signed yet. Bro…don’t talk down to me when I know more than you do about most things but especially the sport of football.

People can always renegotiate existing deals to create cap.
May not even need to.....I know most of the big deals my team signs come with a min. salary base in year 1. Guessing others do this.

Even though some think we do this only to help guys facing suspensions.

I'm just glad the Browns have Nick Chubb signed for a couple more seasons at 12 mil.

Yep. That’s why the Raiders are a garbage franchise. They don’t understand that 2 + 2 makes 4. They draft a RB in round 1. They get exactly what they wanted. The prospect worked out. Now they have no desire to actually reward their best offensive player on said garbage offense. They’ve managed to alienate themselves with the only thing worth a damn on that side of the ball in their franchise. They don’t want to commit to him long term. They want to run him into the ground playing for a 6-7 win team wasting his prime. Why draft a RB first round if the end game isn’t to pay him?!?!? The two decisions together are flat out retarded and further evidence of the Raiders being a garbage franchise.

Youre trolling....got it.

Moving on.
Trolling? I’ve posted no lies. The Raiders franchise is garbage. As some one who follows the team how are you unaware of this?

True but the signing bonus is generally pro rated so even if a guy’s base is something like 1.3 in year one, you also need to put a portion of the signing bonus in year 1 or you have a huge balloon payment on the cap. You can give Jacobs or Barkley 3 years 42-45 million right now with first two years guaranteed and you can still get that first year cap hit under 5-6 million though to back up your point of view.
