The players being tagged aren't being wronged though. That tag salary is a decent bump for Barkley and Jacobs (and a huge one for Pollard). Henry played a season on the tag, then got 4/50M (25M guaranteed) the following year.

Unless you're an advocate for dumping the tags (which I would fine with), this seems adequate.
Over time, even the tag gets diminished with shrinking values or at least a lack of growth in salaries. I read that this season because of where he’s drafted Bijon Robinson is making more than the Tag number. His salary plus the pro rating of his signing bonus puts him at $13 million for this season. That’s pretty fucked up that Barkley is settling for 10 million and a rookie who doesn’t even have a single NFL carry yet is making 3 million dollars more.

You know who is still available that the Raiders could use?

CB Marcus Peters.

"Peters only snatched one interception last season in 13 starts. But coverage-wise, he surrendered a completion percentage of just 64.3 and, in 11 of those starts, only allowed five catches or less on his side, including eight games of surrendering below 60 yards, according to Pro Football Reference."

Imo, interceptions are overrated as a stat to determine how good a defender is. It's similar to steals in the NBA. Does a guy get a lot of steals because he is good at reading offenses and anticipating? Or does he just gamble a lot and ends up getting burned a lot too.

I'll take the guy who covers well and just takes a receiver away as an option over the guy who gets interceptions but gives up big plays/touchdowns because he misses on some of those gambles every time.

True.

Because, you have guys like Diggs in Dallas...solid CB but probably a little over rated....gets picks but also gets beat quite a bit on deep throws.

Ask the Giants who they'd rather have, and I bet they would say Bijan. No injury history as of yet.

Agreed. How many interceptions are the result of a tipped pass (credit should go to the other defender) or something odd like a receiver falling (or running the wrong route on a timing play)?

Cool. But that’s impossible.

Just saying the extra money being made by Bijan isn't out of line in his case. Of course, as a slotted salary any RB selected then would get this, which is likely out of line lol.

The issue for me isn’t raising top rookie pay to the level where Bijaun is at.

It is that vets get discarded after they put in the work during those rookie contracts.

Tough job.

It is out of line. It shows the rookie slot is now higher than the franchise tag for RBs. This is a guy who has never had an NFL carry yet. It’s absurd.

True, but cutting a guy is not breaking the contract.
To the letter of the law? Correct. But in the spirit of signing a 5 year promise and then only coming through on 3? It absolutely applies.

$10M per isn't being discarded. If teams are willing to utilize day 3 picks or UFAs in place of pricey veterans, there's not much you can do. Those vets need to prove their value over those supposedly lesser backs to change the momentum.

I’m not sure what the solution is

The nfl and divorce are the only institutions where the breaching party is rewarded

That should tell you everything
