There are but it is really unpredictable. I want to see the 4 beat the 1 in these cfb playoffs at some point. In CBB, the 1/2 seed lose frequently enough to a team seeded 4 or lower
OSU was the 4 in the very first CFP and won. Not sure, but think Clemson or Bama was the 4 in one of their titles.

I used to agree but these playoffs are horrible every year. Maybe i would be on board if they do 8 or 12. This 4 team crap isn't better than the bcs to me

I don’t care about blowouts. Would much rather see a team get blown out than not have the chance at all.

4 teams is pretty stupid considering there are 5 power conferences.

Go to 7 or 8. Provide automatic bids to conference champs and a couple at large spots for great teams that fall short of the conference title and also small conference teams having a great season.

With 7, the #1 overall would get a bye.

yep. Bama and then Oregon. Really did not think they had much of a chance to beat Bama that year.....though once they did and the way they played was confident they'd win the title.

Yep...longer than I'd have given them. Have to admit while I usually want to see 8 as mentioned I think anyone outside the top 3 might have been rolled by one of the top 3. For sure by Bama.

Definitely down for an 8 teamer (don't like 7 with a bye for anyone) but I can understand the rationale against it.....especially after my team won the first one. Cannot imagine those kids still needing another win to be champs. Also tough on the fans who travel to have to do so on short notice. Though I guess lessened a little if home games for round 1 for higher seeds.

Yeah, the fans argument is so stupid.

Fans travel for the NCAA tournament. There is no way in hell they wouldn’t travel for an expanded college football playoff. And they would love doing it.

I mean to you any argument that is not your own is stupid and sure, guessing fans would show, but also 70-100k for a college game compared to 20k for most NCAA until the final 4. would those who could go wherever or whenever they want show up though? Absolutely. Would there be some who could only go to 1-2 and not a 3rd? Guess there is yes, as well.

do you mean like not have them as part of one "league"? Never play each other?

Have their own playoffs because they'll never make it under this format. Not even sure if they would have been selected in an 8 team format.

What are you really playing for if you know you'll never have a chance to even make the playoffs? At least in CBB, every single team in Division 1 know they can make March Madness

And I forgot who where I heard this idea. It was either from twitter or ESPN....now that I think about it, I heard it on twitter from Mike Golic and thought it was a fantasic idea

31-14 Bama wins

After watching my Irish lose to both teams within the last 2 weeks.....I think Clemson is slightly better

Agree. Just go to 8 with auto bids for conference champs and 3 "wild cards".

When they first start there will be some blowouts because the conferences aren't equal. Right now, there are really only 3, maybe 4 teams in the country that can legitimately use making the cfp and winning an NC as a recruiting tool.

If they expand the cfp, in theory, more teams will be able to use that as a recruiting tool and some of the talent going to Bama, Clemson and tOSU will go to other schools.

Whether they travel or not (they would) those games would probably always sell out AND generate massive TV revenue.

There are enough college football fans out there who would attend championship and Semifinal games. I have not watched a normal bowl game in a long time, but I watch every playoff game. I think a lot of causal fans are like that.

The fans argument is an excuse, not a reason.

Doesn't it bother any of you CFB fans that the same 3 teams are pretty much the only ones with a chance to win it all, every year? It's obvious who I mean.

In pro sports the championship level teams change pretty frequently.

Yes it does. It is the only sport that i don't get excited for the postseason

I don't follow it one little bit, partly for that reason and partly because I prefer the pro game skill level.

Not mad at you. I just love football but yeah i prefer the NFL by far. Probably the only sport where i prefer the regular season over the playoffs
