For a lot of parents, the video games are their babysitting so to speak.

Parents working 2-3 jobs or just not involved enough in their kids lives.....

A little from column A and a little from column B, imo.

Have to limit their time and be careful about the games. But for a lot of folks, it's just easier not to.

None of the girls ever got into video games. With my son, we limited how long he was allowed to play without a break and researched video games before we bought them.

He still likes his video games, but interestingly, he still pretty much holds himself to the same time limits we had for him. lol

if you are interested at all- they have the interviews on 92.3 the fan

yesterday at 6:00 pm they interviewed Hardin- Watson's lawyer....and today they interviewed Busby- the accusers' lawyer.

unfortunatly about 40 minutes of drive time has been my sports the last week and a half. New job is intense. Plus I have to drive downtown every day.
Heard some of the Hardin interview..and some clips of what I missed.

What you'd expect from each. Seems to me Busby is really going overboard to get public support. Cannot say I blame him as it's what he should do.

Hooper is a June 1st cut but at least with Njoku they have seen him on this team instead of paying a FA like Hooper. That was Berry’s worst FA signing, brutal
Yes it was. I'm sure some could be blamed on Baker (at least in 2021) but he among the most unathletic players I can recall when watching him. Not sure he could jump over a post card.

thats fine. He has the potential.

many times you pay a guy for what he has done- instead of what he is going to do...if they want to take a gamble on an elite athlete like Njoku who has shown flashes thats fine.

I started a new job last Monday and its been crazy. I am behind on all the sports action right now. My fantasy baseball team- that has won the last 2 ships and 4 of the last 5 is like 8th out of 14 right now- its brutal. lol.
Middle part exactly my thought. Rather do this than pay some guys who is making too much AND regressing.

Tow of their top 5 cap hits this season are TEs. It's just unnatural, lol, So is playing an NFL player for potential in their 5th year.
One of those is a June 1 cut and we wont be paying much of his contract.

Cleveland fans really trying to peddle this BS.....if he was on another team they'd be roasting him.

:pound:
And if they did they'd be wrong without knowing the facts....like you are to be condemning him without knowing.

Video games.

These fuckers are getting desensitized to violence. Back in the day, my best friend and I played Super Mario Brothers 3.....fantasy shit. Not this new age of Grand Theft Auto and military shoot 'em ups. Trying to up your kills and shit. Add in mental illness and nerds getting bullied at school.....and you have some fucked up young people.
I never wanted to be that guy but man, I can’t easily dismissed the impact of a game on young kids where they are incentivized to gain life by banging a hooker and then killing the hooker right after to get their money back. That shit is fucked up. Additionally, if you look at the Buffalo shooter live streaming his attack with a go pro on top of his helmet he is essentially presenting a real life version of a first person shooter video game. I used to laugh at the old heads that would blame a video game culture for the kids being desensitized but these games have become so life like and in a world of pretend it crosses some lines. 1,000 kids can play these games and 999 of them will be able to separate the video game from real life. But in this world, that lone kid can exact a shit ton of carnage.

Agree. Every time something like this happens it devolves into the same tired argument. One side starts calling for more laws and/or banning guns altogether while the other side argues about their 2nd Amendment rights...none of which addresses the problem of the rando crazy person who decides to shoot up a school, mall, church, workplace or synagogue.

Hard to solve a problem if we can't even discuss what the actual problem is.
Amen! And what really bothers me is that lost in all of that back and forth are the victims and their families. It bothers me that both sides will essentially stand on top of these corpses and use them as a soap box to selfishly use them as a tool to present their virtue signaling political point of view. Obviously, the killer is on a much higher level of transgression and culpability but I also have room to kick a little blame in the direction of those who are selfish and use tragedy to sound off. It’s fucking tone deaf and off putting especially in light of the fact that it’s become a real obstacle to actually addressing the problem effectively.

Man…as much as I want to say this world is fucked it’s so important that we pull back from the doom and gloom media. The human condition is crazy. We possess the capability of immense goodness and immense evil. Our media is hyper focused on the evil. We need to seek out expressions of the human condition manifesting in great things. We gettin really Fucking deep for an NBA forum. Have a good one fellas. My old ass is gonna hit the beach and dig into some social media analytics to see how I can get the business more out reach.

Let's not blame video games here. Broken homes are the real culprit here. The shooter in the Uvalde shooting had a broken home and was forced to live with his grandmother. Having a more stable foundation in family values is a better start. Look at our culture as a whole compared to other countries - it's shit.
It’s hard to isolate one variable. The real issue is all these points of influence converging together which leaves kids vulnerable.

I agree to an extent. I'm 38 years old, the video games I grew up on weren't just Super Mario Bros and Sonic. But I played some heavy Doom, Wolfenstein, etc. As @trojanfan12 mentioned, parents monitor and are active in a kids' life. If a kid plays GTA and other violent games, and acts this out, I think it points to deeper issues than simply the violence that some of these games portray.

I dunno, but I keep hearing positive stuff on Justyn Ross. Hoping he makes the squad...

The catch talent has always been there, more a question of his recovery from back surgery and his ability to win off the line and get separation. Build up speed is good, but quickness not as much.

I have learned my lesson a long time ago with accusations. I will wait until the end but I mean the criminal cases are over. There might be 22 women involved but it really means nothing. This isn't comparable to Big Ben where only one woman was involved. He settled outside of court so he wouldn't face criminal charges. Watson had criminal charges cleared and he still refuses to settle outside of the court as of right now.

The only reason this case is mentioned more than others is bc it "involves" 22 women, yet only 3 said they were sexually involved with Watson and all 3 were consensual LOL. Like I said, I will wait...no reason to declare anything until it's all sorted out with the civil cases.

If that's true then that's fucked up they would only settle If it was private.

Settling for that little would seem to indicate a lack of confidence in winning those cases, just pay to make the story go away. If the amount doesn't go public, it makes Watson look like he paid big to make the story go away.

Right, I played Halo back in the day (still do lol) and I never wanted to compose a plan to kill people. Plenty of other important reasons, as you mentioned, for why these kids choose to do these awful things.

If it's true that he only had sex with 3 of them and both sides considered in consensual? What exactly are these cases involving? An occasional grab or inappropriate comments?

If you saw the interview with the female the other night.....you could tell she wasn't lying......or if she was......she should be an actress, not a massage therapist....

Greatest job in the world. It’s been very good to me and hella rewarding. You can’t live your life in fear.

I’m teaching the Tragedy of Julius Caesar right now so this one is on the tip of my tongue:

“A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once.”

Valiant taste of death is poetic nonsense assuming some after-death reward for heroic actions.

Didn't watch that and have read very little. My QBs do Verizon commercials and nationally televised Golf tournaments. :D
