To me you net the in draft net swap and then tack on with what you get in future assets. So I would see it as Cleveland got an extra 1 for trading back. San Fran gave up 2 firsts for trading up. Cleveland just gave up 3 firsts for Watson cause there’s no net of a swap of 1sts.
I get what you are saying, but Cleveland got watson who was a first rounder. If that's how you care to play it then we gave up 2 first rounders.

And as you recall I was less than pleased they passed on Watson the first time.

Peppers and Ward or Watson

We Def lost that one.
I mean, the plan behind that was also to get the top pick in a QB heavy 2018 draft and we did. But, sure, because Dorsey took Baker as of now it looks like we blew it.

The entire supporting cast is dog shit past Young. Wheeler is nice on D. That's it.

It's Branham, EJ and a clown car.
I mean, there are no stars, but Key is a solid player. also missing Towns and Sueing who could help a ton.

No you get the value of a player in the deal. If you dealt for Tom Brady in his prime is that you dealing for a 6th rounder?

At some point Holtmann has to be on a hot seat.

You have two offensive options. They have 3 shots. Meanwhile the rest of the clown car hoists up nonsense.
as mentioned, they are missing Sueing and Towns. Guessing one or both would start if healthy.

If they fired Holtman that's fine if they know we can get someone better. It's really hard to win at a high level consistently at an elite football school. Has anyone done it since OSU/UF when Matta was here or much before those teams?

Cannot be hard to recruit against OSU. "Do you want to play second fiddle to the football team or come here and be king?" Does have a decent class next year (not Duke level decent).

Just frustrating that the other Buckeyes can't hit a bucket today. Gotta do a better job rebounding. And the others gotta start hitting some shots.
If you ask me the type of player this team lacks it's a Jon Diebler sniper. Been a while since we had one unless I'm forgetting.

Like I said I get what you are saying but I see things a little differently. Does it change if we first pick Watson in 2017 then trade him to Houston, say, once we know the guy we want is still on the board at 25?

Bottom line for me is Houston wanted watson and dealt away 2 first rounders to get him. We wanted him and dealt away 3.

Houston dealt one. They used that one to trade up 13 spots to draft Watson. They traded one future 1st to draft Watson.

I have no faith with Holtmann and the freshmen

Dude sucks.

It's a wrap
I mean, other than 2 players the roster is dogshit/clownshow per you but you blame his coaching?

want to say needs to recruit better? OK.

It is different though.

Watson is established and we know he is good, but you don’t have to pay a rookie 230 million guaranteed.

I read somewhere that this is only the 2nd time in NFL history that a team gave 3 firsts for a player.

The other was Hershel Walker.

I do get it's different. But unless it's some sure thing (Trey Lance is not) I'd prefer to give up that much for the established top tier player....no doubt he and his team had issues. If they didn't he's likely not on the market, unless it was for a top pick so they could replace him with a QB.

College Basketball is so dumb at times. You're down 3 with a 16 second difference between shot and game clock but you foul?

Did you watch the game? Yes I blame coaching

By the time they started actually running the offense through Branham and EJ the game was out of hand

They made a nice comeback on the back of those two tho.
