Once a game is 150 at bats a year, minimum. Sorry that matters to me. And the reason it’s dropped is they have always had the worst marketing in the history of the world.

It's dropped because it's too slow for kids today.

Baseball is a slower paced game. That's why it's played in the summer. You and I grew up in an era when we were listening to the games on the radio in the summer...often while we were outside throwing a ball around, playing pickle, etc.

Kids these days consume their sports differently than we did.

I'm with you. I mostly prefer the way things used to be...I'm still mad that the NL adopted the DH and that the DH exists in the 1st place. But, I figure it's accept the changes or quit watching and I sure hell ain't gonna stop watching. lol

Well the girl playing her daughter is getting all the press in this one lol. And as a father of 2 girls I’ll just say I was happy to learn she is actually 27. My gosh.

I'm sure she is, but she's too young for me (even at 27 lol)...I have daughters in that age range. lol

Heck yeah. Great show.

As an added bonus...it has Ali Larter in it...
You saying that name made me check her out, I knew I had seen her in something. That’s the whipped cream girl from Varsity Blues! Damn I am old.

Yep. She's not all that famous, but I've seen her in a few things and liked all of them.

i was checking in every so often, but once it became clear that it was going to be a blowout...I stuck with the football game. lol

They kept it within 10-12 for quite a while and I kept waiting for them to get hot from 3 to catch up, but it never happened lol. Hope tonight's game is better.

I don't know. My first reaction to it was a hearty "WTF? That's cheesy and stupid".

But I think that was more a reaction to calling it The Golden Bat Rule (which is lame and gay) than the actual concept.

How many times have you been watching a game and seen your team in a spot where you needed a hit and one of your teams weakest hitters is up and thought "I sure wish (insert name of teams best hitter) was up?" With this you could have that.

I wouldn't want it to be available more than once, maaaaybe twice a game...but, if done right, it could be pretty cool and add a little more strategy to the game...especially if they come up with a better name.

I would rather go back to pitchers hitting and the additional substitution strategy involved.

Damn, drama queen.:drama:

The world won't end. I promise.

From the little bit that's out there, it looks like...IF it ever happens, it would be something that could be used once a game.

Things change and evolve baseball has been dropping in participation, attendance and viewership for awhile, especially among kids. So, they're talking about different ways to increase interest. Better than just staying stagnant and letting interest continue to drop.
"How do we get on TikTok????"
"Make our best batters bat more!!!!"

Honorable, reverent.

You and me both. I can honestly say that the DH is the one change in all of sports that I will never stop hating (the kickoff thing in the NFL is trending that direction too. lol)

I’ve actually come around in my old age on the dh. Some hitters could hit a little but for the most part it was pretty pitiful watching them try to hit.

Sports change over the years. MLB hasn't always played 162 games, the NFL hasn't always played 17 games. What about records set by guys playing 14 games getting broken by guys playing 17 games?
Yeah I don't think I like the rule but not because of the stats.

Syracuse is a mediocre team also.

They would not be 9-3 playing an SEC schedule.

Would probably be a lot closer to 6-6.
Maybe but even if you believe that it'd the same as Oklahoma. This is a name thing in (OK v. Syracuse).

That was part of the strategy though. Close game, your pitcher is dealing...do you let him bat or pull him?

I know but that was a change I can live with. That’s about as progressive as I get though lol.

Oh, I'm obviously willing to live with it as I'm still watching and just watched a Dodger put together arguably the greatest offensive season ever playing nothing but DH...but I still hate it. lol

I liked when it was just in one league, one of baseball’s unique selling points is variety, like different ballpark dimensions, different ump strike zones, etc. Having different DH rules in each league was kind of interesting.
