The fact is they can call it when they want. The Browns got called for holding on their final drive 3 straight plays. Started at the 20 and backed up to the 50. Would KC ever have this happen to them? No way in hell. This is the league and it will never change. This is why it is easiest the sport to rig by a long mile. They can make a call without any repercussion even if it was somewhat close. They don’t have to explain a missed hold, they can make a hold at any time bc it happens almost every play.
The amount of impact officiating has on football is one reason I can’t get into it as much as baseball or basketball

Basketball is just as easy

Two bs whistles sends a star to the bench
But that stuff is both rare and doesn't affect an entire game outcome the way one call from a football ref can.

That star gets back in the game the next quarter anyway.

Why not Tannehill?

I saw somewhere, maybe a Schefter interview, that said Tannehill wants more of a guaranteed starter role for the season. Doesn't have to be long term multiple years type of deal, but something where if a team's current starter is done for the year and he can come in. Similar to what Flacco did with the Browns last year. I guess his mindset is he's still a starter and thinks waiting for this opportunity will convince some other team to pay him long term in the offseason. Seems like bad advice imo. He should just embrace being a qualified back up. There's a dearth of useful QBs out there and teams do pay skilled back ups nicely.
