Yep.

Obviously Russ is an ineffective leader who can’t relate to teammates.

But man.

I watched that game. He was trying so hard to be a leader. To get his teammates to believe they were going to come back.

I have to appreciate this effort from a man who the organization has already given up on. Would have been really easy to just go through the motions and take that L.
Horrible decision by the franchise.

I think Russ is kind of a douche but people trying to lay this year on him are crazy. And the coaching he had last year was top 10 all time bad on par with Freddie Kitchens.

The man had a 103 passer rating last week and we are going "where is Russ" He has a better passer rating than Lamar Jackson. Thats not to say he's having as good a year but he also isn't backed by a top 5 defense.
His numbers this season:

66%, 205ypg, 6.9ypa, 26 TD's, just 8 INT's, 98 PR.

Sutton is good but Jeudy has been part of the reason the ypg and ypa are down. He has been very meh.

True.

In fairness, Lamar’s impact goes well beyond his passer rating.

But I also think if he gets MVP this year, the voters are just settling in to the “best QB on the best team” pattern.

The best offensive players in the league this year have not been QBs. Hill and CMac are having all time great seasons. They should be the top 2 candidates.

But to your point, Russ has had a good year. This is a financial decision that is horribly executed by Denver.

This wasn't to say Russ is having anywhere near as good a year as Lamar just to simply point out Russ isn't having a bad one.

Fantasy football championship game help:

have a shit show at QB
1. Joe Flacco - Joe has been tearing it up. Browns struggling to run the ball. However, now they see the Jets. This is the first game where Flacco hasn’t seen a bottom 10 defense. Risky
2. Geno Smith - plays at home vs Steelers. Was meh last week against a poor pass D. Steelers D is pretty solid but Seattle always much better at home.
3. Nick Mullens - threw for 411 yards last week in the dome and he has a great matchup at home vs Green Bay whose defense has been bleeding points. The problem is that the Vikings are saying they could start any of their three QBs. Dobbs and Hall are both available on my waiver wire so as long as the starter is announced about an hour before the game, I can play whomever they choose. At the same time, you worry about the starter getting pulled if they’re this unsettled.

What would you do? I have an idea in my mind. Just wanted to spark some discussion so I can talk it through.

We can’t say that, it is known his teammates don’t like him. He played some better this season but he’s way past his prime. It’s a business.

Yep. We aren’t in the building. Payton has earned a benefit of the doubt as not only a top notch Super Bowl winning coach but a plus offensive mind. He’s seen if Russ can work in what he wants to do. Once he assesses Russ ain’t it, you have to move on. This is the draft to look young QB. There’s no benefit to Denver winning these last two. They want as high a pick as possible.

Still one of the worst trades we’ve seen in years in the NFL though and this clinches that.

Not necessarily a horrible decision...but it was executed about as poorly as possible. The bad decision was signing a QB his age to that kind of contract in the first place. Even if he was still playing at a "let Russ cook" level, they were never going to get more than 2, maybe 3 seasons at that level.

That's what I meant.

Funny thing is, I don't remember a big bidding war when they gave him that deal. So, they sign him to a bigger deal than they had to, then less than 2 years into it, they suddenly want him to agree to rework it and threaten to bench him when he doesn't want to.

I think he will be just fine
I wonder what is the best fit for him.

Teams that need QB’s:
NE
PIT (please no)
LV
CHI (could draft one)
NO
ATL

Atlanta is very interesting. They need a new coach

I’m rooting for Belichek to somehow get his hands on Caleb Williams.

The Jets Pass D is legit.
