More so than maybe any other franchise, the Guardians would benefit from a salary floor. They can get rewarded for their great work at development but now instead of preparing those guys to play their prime in other cities like Lindor they can keep that player and still be driven by their player development. They can’t keep all the talent and will still be savvy in who they keep and who they trade. I think they take the easy way out in sports now. I don’t even think it’s about being cheap. If the plan is pretty much use a young asset until you trade him in every case they will struggle to win big but also avoid that criticism in getting a projection wrong and getting the wrong guy to commit to while watching another guy go elsewhere and succeed. It’s the pussy’s way out.
I'm sure that would be a benefit.....better would be to have an owner with a will to win buy the team.

Truth be told, I don't even mind when they deal a guy like Lindor who wants a megadeal.....I suspect JRam would have been gone, too, had he not stood up to his agent and told him to just get something done.

However, they need to spend the money somewhere else and should at least be willing to spend league average in a contending window.

The Dodgers are still riding the wave of an $8.35 billion deal with Time Warner that runs through 2039.

This sstarted in 2013. 25 years.......so while its weighted- (less in the early years, more i nthe later years)- Dodgers average $334 million a year in local TV money.

The Guardians are at 55M a year. The Pirates about 45. The Rays about 70.

Over a 10 year span- the Dodgers will take in about 2.8 billion extra in revenue (give or take) over those teams.

For all the people that say- WELL ITS JUST THE OWNERS- THEY COULD ALL SPEND THAT MUCH- you are fucking idiots.
spend that much? No...that is lunacy. But our team could spend league average if they wanted and not lose money. But they wont.

Don't even need to spend 260 mil....but could they get to 130-150?

Js that if you set up an nba style cap for mlb it would be around 300m with a 90% floor of that amount

I often see this with politics and some of the garbage GED toting MAGA tools. They always scream Facts Facts Facts. The problem is never the facts. It’s the conclusions drawn from the facts. You are citing a 38-30 head to head record with zero context. That’s a fact. The problem is the attempt to draw the conclusion that this means AFC > NFC. The fact and the conclusion don’t match up at all. It’s piss poor analysis that’s oversimplified and taken from the individual context of 68 football games.

No, they really don’t. The top 7 in each conference is what matters because we are talking playoff football.
It's now 41-30 and still a fact. also a fact the conferences are 16 teams and not 7.

If you'd like to offer something other than baseless opinion to support your claim I'm still waiting. One of your opinions already has crashed and burnt (Bmore cannot win without Andrews).

First, I have no issue with teams spending since it's within the rules.

But if a team like mine has an owner who wont spend how are the fans supposed to force him to sell?

Why I think Browns fans who want Haslam to sell are not thinking clearly. what if he does and a mizer like Dolan buys them?

Yeah, that can be tough. A combo of fan complaints and pretty intense local media pressure forced the McCourts to sell. But then you had Sterling the Clippers playing in empty arenas, his team being openly mocked by everyone and if he hadn't been exposed as a racist, might still own them.

I didnt see the game so can't really comment. Defense was bad for sure but offense could have been better. They had 7 points entering the 4th. They scored 7 offensive points in the first 53 minutes. Defense been solid most of the season while offense when it comes to points production been bad most of the season

The saints needed to eat the year cap wise

Carr was a luxury they literally couldn’t afford

They’re in an almost impossible cap situation now

I mean

what do you do with Carr but bring him back

you can certainly attempt a trade I guess
Yeah but all signs point to DA returning which is alarming. Dude had a talented team with a very easy schedule and likely will miss the playoffs
