Yeah but all signs point to DA returning which is alarming. Dude had a talented team with a very easy schedule and likely will miss the playoffs
saints are kind of middle of the pack talent wise- offense does have Kamara and Olave so the weapons arent bad- but not great either.....defense is right in the middle of the pack in most categories despite a cake schedule. Middle of hte pack in qb rating.... only 31 sacks for the defense which is lower rated....mediocre special teams....not a very good kicker.

They can only beat bad teams in DA 2 yrs here. That's poor coaching

here is a wild stat- in spite of the injuries- the Browns are giving up the least first downs per game- less than 14 a game (13.9 per game).

Last year the league lead was 16.8 per game
year before 17.6
17.7 year before that

the next best since 2010 is the Chargers- who were still at 15.4 that year. Since 2003- when they first had the stat- the best is about 14.4.....the Ravens in 04....

Browns are only giving up 159 passing yards a game - which is insane in todays NFL. Saints are 7th at 195 per game. Opposing completion percentage is 55.2% -which is the lowest in the NFL in over a decade too.....

that is not a good sign- you should get an upset every once in a while- i remember even the shitty Browns pulled off an upset of a good team now and then.

This year somehow we got PJ Walker to beat the Niners- which was just bonkers- and lucky.

The only wins they have over winning teams came against Seattle last September & Minshew led teams 2x

Unlike years past when Ward was down, there was not much behind him to pick up the slack. That's not the case anymore. The room of Ward, Greg Newsome, Martin Emerson, Cam Mitchell, and Mike Ford are one of the main reasons this team is on the cus of the playoffs.

Talking specifically about the top three guys, they have been more than good, they have been elite. According to NFL's NextGen Stats, Ward, Newsome, and Emerson have three of the top five rankings of Coverage Success Rates.

will be interesting to see how they finish out- certainly not a murderers row of QBs- Keenum, Zach Wilson- and Browning- though Browning has been pretty darn good of late--- plus have lost quite a few guys to injury- including their top 3 safeties- Delpit, Thornhill and McCleod. Not too mention their captain- Anthony Walker at MLB....Okoronkwo at pass rusher, Hurst at DT, etc....

If Ward is healthy though the corners are just so good. Emerson is becoming a star. Newsome is really good- and Ward is hurt a lot but when he plays he is lock down. Browns play the most man coverage in the NFL - a large part of it is becuase they can. Losing Delpit and Okoronkwo suck though.

gotta be fair though- the worst corners in the league look a lot better if you have Myles Garrett- who should 100% be DPOY. Without him the Browns are much more likely 5-9 than 9-5 right now. MAybe worse considering the offensive injuries.

to be fair the D has had a reasonable amount of injuries.

the offense is what has gotten shredded

I mean- people will look at the Bears getting 17 points last week

but one TD was on a pick 6.

their other TD was on an interception returned to the 1 yard line. Bears were extremely fortunate to have scored a TD at all.

the safety position is decimated--- they are starting 2 undrafted guys right now--- I really liked the offseason McCleod signing to give them depth their--- but having McCleod and Delpit on IR and Thornhill out -- missing their top 3 sucks.

Missing Anthony WAlker- their captain at linebacker sucks too- because if there is a weaker unit on the defense when healthy its def. LB.

Okoronkwo was definitely playing better than Zadarius Smith- he was our 2nd best pass rusher after Garrett and playing really well- that was a good signing- sucks hes prob. done for the season. Hurst was beasting too at DT- hes done for the year- I would bring him back on a small deal if he was interested.

JOK has really stepped up this year. Him and Delpit are finally reaching their potential. Losing Delpit really sucks- he was good against the run and pass, could blitz- hes a really good young safety.

next year i think the guys they are losing are on defense Shelby Harris, Hurst, Zadarius Smith, Walker, Takitaki....

they will have to work the D-line depth- but Okoronkwo should def. become the starter at left-end....leaving a d-line of Garrett, Tomlinson, Elliot and Okoronkwo- which is really good- just gotta build up the depth.

And- they will have to work on linebacker- which is fine

Thornhill and Delpit are back....Newsome, Ward, and Emerson are all back.....they could be just as good next year if they supplement a little bit which I am sure they will.

Garrett
Ward
Emerson
Newsome
Okoronkwo
JOK
Delpit
Tomlinson

thats some talent. 'A lot of draft capital- 1 overall for Garrett, #3 overall for Ward, first round for newsome, 3rd round for emerson, 2nd round for JOK and Delpit.....Okoronkwo and Tomlinson are the only FAs. Weird to see the Browns draft well and have guys pan out. Greedy Williams was a bust 2nd rounder- I liked hte pick at hte time too......he was just glass.

they arent gonna be able to pay Emerson and Newsome though- one guy is eventually gonna leave- shit maybe both. I think they would do what they can to keep Emerson though. Hes a stud. Helluva 3rd round pick.

yah the defensive injuries lately are worrisome-but overall its nothing like the offense. At least we still have Cooper and Njoku.

Emerson has 2 years left- Newsome 1.....

next year is really the year to make a run before the cap starts going bonkers in a lot of ways. I doubt Jed Wills is back- they can save a lot of money by moving Dawand Jones over there- I def. think he can handle it.
