Yup USC couldn’t fire their coach so they went around him
They didn't want to fire Riley. He's one of the top offensive minds in football.
But I have no doubt that it was the AD who made the hire for the DC.
Happened to quickly to be Riley's hire.

Smart move. LR hasn’t earned the benefit of the doubt that he can investigate assess and bring aboard a quality defensive mind to make that side of the football national championship caliber. In fact, all evidence to this point leads to the conclusion that he can’t. That condition may not be forever. He can gain that experience over time but it’s evident that right now he doesn’t have that. They didn't want to fire Riley. He's one of the top offensive minds in football.

It’s the same story as his time at OU, just have a top 50 defense and stay engaged and some good things could happen. Honestly he is headed to a conference that will be easier to make the playoff in than he has ever had. There are at least 8 schools in the Big that are basically automatic wins for a top program.Yeah, not sure if it's a matter of can't, but he certainly hasn't. It may be as simple as...he and Alex Grinch are friends and he didn't want to fire his friend.
Either way, as you suggest, hopefully he learns from it.

Remember the OU team that had Georgia down by like 20 at halftime in the playoffs? Top 50 defense that was an easy national championship winner.Yep, with his offense, they don't need a great defense. Basically, they just need to be able to get a stop when needed.
He doesn't even have to get them to 11th nationally like he did UCLA...top 50 would give them a good shot at a playoff run...top 30 would make them legit NC contenders.
I like the Iowa play a bunch. Hard to see a team with a defense like Iowa’s losing by more than 3 TDs. Additionally, Michigan is likely already in even with a loss so the idea that they’ll be gunning for style points isn’t going to come into play.My picks for the day, I had Wash and the points last night
Okie light +14.5 ( hope both lose)
Toledo -6.5
Boise St -2
SMU Tulane over 47.5 ( possibly by half)
Alabama +5
App St + 5.5
Louisville + 2
Iowa +21.5

I’m not ruling out Penix, and I think Williams is still the first drafted.Jayden Daniels going to win the Heisman.
He may also surpass Caleb as the top QB drafted.
I hope I’m right on that one, SMU puts up points. Tulane has a good D but I think it’s overI just added the over in the Tulane game.
He’s funnyWho is this special guest on Gameday?
Yeah but who is he. No clue lolHe’s funny
Theo Von, stand up comedian so good thing he is funny lolYeah but who is he. No clue lol
It’s in Texas interest to run it up, I took the points just because OSU is so up and downLet's go, Texas!!!!
But I think OK State covers.
Ollie Gordon is the best rb in the league, that’s the key to this game. If Texas can contain him they win.Let's go, Texas!!!!
But I think OK State covers.
