Given that the last straw for Watson was ownership’s failed promise to him that he would be involved in coach/GM search, I think that is pretty unlikely.

Yeah, I don’t totally disagree. I think it is fine to involve a key player, but definitely don’t lead them on to believe they are making the call.

What is really stupid is making the promise and then not following through on it.

But yeah, how the hell do you not, at the least, let a key player know who you're thinking of hiring for a position as important as head coach? Especially when it's the QB?

I mean, it's not like that's the most important position in the sport or anything. lol

Teams need to take a lesson from the Buccaneers with Brady. (I'm lookin' at you Seahawks).

From what has been reported, he wasn't included in the decision after being told he would be. I suppose it's possible that he was told and didn't like the decision. But if that were the case, I'd think the Texans would have issued a statement by now saying that they did include him, since that's what they're catching all of the heat over.

Interesting possibility re: Russell Wilson, the Bears, Sam Darnold and the Seahawks...

The Bears are apparently considering making the Seahawks "an offer they can't refuse" for Wilson and the Seahawks would simultaneously trade for Sam Darnold.
