I'll admit the defense definitely looks shaky at times. I'm not sure if it's the players or the play calling, but I'm leaning towards the latter...

It's a fast defense but doesn't have a lot of size. That's why most of the big runs they give up are between the tackles. I was a bit surprised last night that Cal kept trying to run outside. They were getting 6+ yards most of the time running between the tackles and stopped for no gain, or a loss when they tried to go outside.

Fields is improving
Not so fast. There’s a higher power working here. I played Aaron Rodgers this week and Fields is on my bench. The rules have been that when I have a QB on my bench they have a huge day. Then when I play him next week he will have 100 passing yards and 3 turnovers.

Hearing this, I’m feeling better about the Notre Dame matchup. ND’s QB is a mongoloid who shouldn’t even be on scholarship but they’re really getting good at running between the tackles. ND’s season was over when they lost home games to Marshall and Stanford but they could absolutely play spoiler. With USC’s offensive fire power, shortening the game by running the football is probably their best shot too.

After the way the season started, i would be good with 8-4 or 9-3

I didn’t even think they’d be bowl eligible. They have a better chance of finishing up a recruiting class as well. The bad start resulted in defections and decommits. Hope they can get back in with a QB. It’s the one position that holds the program back.

Never fear Panther fans, Baker Mayfield just came off the bench and led a td drive.

Hopefully we will have the 2 starting linebackers we've been missing for the last couple of games. That will help a little. It won't give us much more size, but they're better than the backups. One of them is 6'6" and can fuck up pass plays without rushing the passer because QB's aren't used to seeing someone that tall in the middle of where they're trying to put the ball.

USC will likely have to go with man coverage so they can try to stack the middle and see if they can force ND to pass.
