Not much to say about CFP ranking. Agreed with them Bama a little too high but also agreed with them wont matter. Win out and they are in. Don't and they are out.

TN 1 seemed right. Could argue UGA should be ahead of OSU but again doesn't matter as winner of TN/UGA goes to #1. TCU at 7 might have gotten a bit of a shaft.

Yeah, it's kinda pointless to have these rankings this early.

Maybe but it gives us a hint of what they might do moving forward and what they think so far. also allows them to set things up how they want it....though agree that comes later

This early? There's 1 month left. When do you suggest they have it? February?

Do they announce rankings for March Madness with a month left in the season? Does the NFL announce the current playoff seedings a month in advance? Are teams going to try to win more or less if they don't know where they stand lol?

It's a manufactured, artificial news item they can release weekly to fuel the media.

Pretty sure, yes, the NCAA does start showing rankings well before MM starts...at least the top 16. NFL will tell you who is in the playoffs a month in advance, too (maybe longer than that). Also those who are close. different, of course, as not chosen by a committee.

Actually, they do. There are numerous media outlets that do Bracketology and in the end they’ll get 65-66 of the 68 right. They invite people into that process like 3 months before Selection Sunday.

its just a shame they fucked up those 4 games - esp. the Falcons and Jets games......if not theyd still be alive.

as is maybe they have a small small tiny little bit of daylight because of parity in the league- but its a bummer they blew so many games that were so winnable.

They're the total opposite of the Giants. They could be 6 and 2 just as easy

Sure, there are notations that someone has clinched. There isn't a weekly TV show to "release the rankings". It's a process designed for the media.

They wouldn't need the committee if they could just reform the top 25 poll into something more trusted. Seems wasteful (or pointless even?) to have the top 25 separate from a committee-chosen playoff.

Because they have a set of rules where a committee is not needed to choose the winners. Just look at the standings. You are kind of reaching here.

The top 25 poll is what would be the waste. Not the committee.

Home and chilling. The wife's daughter stayed home from work with the baby since the kids are getting sick.

The wife and I are taking advantage by going to La Parrilla down the street for Mexican food and margaritas around 5:30pm or so. I may or may not get lucky in the bedroom tonight. We shall see.

I just don't think it needs to be an argument topic for a month. It could be one initial ranking then an adjustment if needed after conference finals.

Well that could be a momentum killer for the Phillies
There’s nothing more “Phillies” than hitting 5 home runs on a Tuesday and then getting no hit on a Wednesday. They have been a resilient bunch all season so if anyone can bounce back and put yesterday in the rear view it’s them. Thompson has pressed all the right buttons and has bled a run out of this team. That being said, I disagree with his decision to pitch a pen day today saving Wheeler for Game 6. There’s a better chance at a win Wheeler at home vs Verlander who has rotten WS history than Wheeler on the road vs Framber Valdez who owned their lineup in Game 2.
