Hey, @WiggyRuss

You mentioned a possible woke element to The Rings of Power.

Is that why the reviews are calling the Galadriel character a combination of a classic Mary Sue and a hardcore Karen?

Like, how can you even be both of those things at the same time?

They are also saying it should be rated G.

Not PG....

Not.PG-13....

G.......yeah, pass.

I will just binge it later.
that is what I have been reading- but they let certain critics see the first 2 episodes and it has generally gotten good reviews thus far. I am def. going to give it a chance.

@WiggyRuss and @Mecca
I have been boycotting the works of the FatMan whose name I shall not speak until he finished his fucking saga with the last book.

But your discussion of the source material for House of Dragons is intriguing. It seems Shakespearean to me. What Shakespeare used to do is take a history text of his era like the Hollinshed Chronicles and see some intriguing mention in the history and he would then craft a story humanizing those figures in history.
Julius Caesar comes from Plutarch and an attempt to humanize the dilemma of Brutus.
Romeo and Juliet comes from a family tree of the two main families in Verona Italy and Shakespeare noticing that a 150 year feud ends in the same year where both families had a young teen die…and boom he writes Romeo and Juliet borrowing from other famous love story plot lines of his era.

It seems like what the show runners at HBo are doing is taking the original “history chronicle” of the Targaryan dynasty and humanizing the participants in the biggest pieces of the text. I think I have to read this now.
yah I am also a book reader and it is inexplicable to me the 6th book is not out yet- it has been 10 y ears now since he has released a book in the series. Its just unreal

Not a lot to really read about "The Dance". The "Fire and Blood" book is basically a history book. There might be 40-50 pages that highlight main events and characters from a few different perspectives. Its interesting though.

I think you are mostly right on with that- in all his interviews Martin talks about how he borrows heavily from history but just spices it up.

Only thing that worries me about House of the Dragon is that - unlike Game of Thrones - where there was room for humor and underdogs - this show does not seem like it will have a lighter side.

@Mecca thats why I was hoping mushroom would be in it. lol.

Nebraska vs NW last weekend in Ireland and some other minor games, Vandy vs Hawaii, etc.

But a weak slate overall.
Well I thought most people would know what I mean

Thoughts on ND v OSU? The Irish are a 17.5 point underdog. Seems like nobody thinks they have a chance. Hoping they can shock the world Saturday night.

OSU wins but I think ND covers and loses by like 10-13.

ND rookie head coach in a tough one for his first game.

week 1 ya never know. Hell, IU and MN gave us a game the last 2 seasons so why not ND? I'd bet the dog if I had to bet on this one.

I would normally take OSU and give the points but the Buckeyes defense is an issue.
It has been but hopefully the addition of Knowles as the DC gets us back to pre-schiano days again.

OSU always seems to have the talent as a ton go on to the NFL from the D.....seems like their issue has been scheme when they struggle.

Logically, I’m with you. But once bitten twice shy. ND has history of showing their ass in these spots against elite teams ( WTF is wrong with Georgia? Ha, seems to be the only elite program ND plays tough).

He's a lazy bastard. It is beyond clear he will die and someone will finish it for him. Because it's a cash cow. Obviously someone will do it. And way faster than 10 years plus on one book
the guy that finished Wheel of Time did a good job- maybe he will finish.
