He wants a bigger role though.

Have to respect that.

And honestly? If the Browns can get some assets in return they should consider moving him. They have some pretty solid RB depth behind Chubb anyway. Hunt is a luxury for them.

I'm definitely okay with them moving him for assets since they can't keep him.

Hunt was barely on the field last year. He's a huge asset when he is though.

Right...and will be spending $10 mil per on an elite RB ahead of him. Gonna have to make hard choices with a lot of large extensions coming up and paying a backup RB too much likely wont be a luxury we can afford.

would love to get a solid WR for him or a 2nd or 3rd rounder (which I doubt happens)...otherwise I'd ride out the season with him.
yah- like with Njoku- just tell him- hey you are under contract- play ball....if not- we have D'Ernest Johnson and the guy they just drafted from Cincy.

Hunt will be a huge help- especially out of the back field---- but I always felt they would trade him this offseason or next offseason anyway. I think that is why they kept D'Ernest for a pretty solid salary for a 3rd RB.

Twins got some help at the deadline with some pitchers they badly needed- Lopez and Mahle and Fullmer were very good gets.....it would not surprise me if they win the division as they have a more experienced roster and solidified it...

but if the Guardians continue to battle and this young team makes strides- I really think they showed this weekend they can put some fear in good teams. Bieber and McKenzie is no joke for a 1-2 punch and Clase is just as good as any Cleveland closer since probably prime Mesa.

Young teams tend to be inconsistent- nothing you can do about thatt - but I really hope we see them make a race out of this. I hope Civale can come back and pitch well and Plesac pitc like he did during june.

we need naylor healthy and hitting and Jose to be play like an MVP candidate too....Rosario and Kwan to keep hitting at the top of the lineup- and young guys like Jones/Gonzalez/Benson to contribute.

hopefully its a fun last 2 months of the season.

He (McKenzie) is 3-0 with a 0.41 ERA across 22 innings with a 0.41 WHIP in three combined starts against Houston and the Yankees, the two top clubs in the American League.

gotta love that- this guy looks like he can really be an anchor of the rotation for a long time.

with so many young guys, and not much in the way of salary- and bieber coming down to earth a little bit and the new minority owner - maybe they can resign him......he is still very young

long time rotation of Bieber and McKenzie.....Quintrell.........and then put something together with Espino, Williams, Civale, Plesac, Allen, Bibbee, Morris.

this list ranks the pitching prospects....

from this list- Guards have:

#3: Espino
#7: Williams
#16: Cody Morris
#22: Logan Allen
#42: Tanner Bibee

I mean- its almost laughable how clean the books are for the Guardians @dtgold88 @Shanemansj13

They have less than 20M in guaranteed contracts for next year.

they should have a lot of flexibility. They will need a catcher- Hedges is an FA- I dont know if they resign him or let him go or make a trade.

Next year:

SP:
1. Bieber- 8M
2. McKenzie- 1M
3. Quintrell- 3M
4. Plesac- 3M
5. Civale- 3M
(minors- Espino, Williams, Bibee, Burns, Allen, Gaddis, Beytonfield)

C: Who knows- Bo Naylor may be ready- he was just added to MLB.com's top 100 list- upping Guardians # in the top 100 to 9...3 more than the closest team
1B: Naylor- 2M
2B: Gimenez- 2M
3B: Ramirez- 14M
SS: Rosario- 6M (with Arias/Freeman- 2 top 100 guys waiting in the wings if they make a move- Rocchio also but hes still prob 2 years away)
CF: Straw- 2M
LF: Kwan- 1M
RF: Who knows- maybe Oscar Gonzalez, or Nolan Jones.......Valera- their top hitting prospect is still a year or two away.
DH: ? Naylor will play here a decent amount- but I have him at 1B.

Pen:
Clase- 1.5M
Karinchak: 1M
Stephen: 1M
De Los Santos: 1M
Morgan: 1M
Sandlin: 1M

Because of the 40 man roster crunch I think guys like Gose, Hentges, Maile, Miller, Straw, Benson, Jewell, Gaddis, McCarty, Pilkington, Vargas, Clement, Palacios- will have to fight for roster spots- but they are all very cheap--- I would say out of those 13- maybe half will be off the 40 man.

That is pretty inexpensive all around- I would say about 52M.......that should leave them plenty of flexibility to add a catcher, a DH, and a reliever. Plesac or Civale could get traded. Even with a lower tier payroll- all of the young guys on inexpensive deals- should give them some flexibility.

Their window is just opening right now. I think even in 2023 and 2024 they will only continue to stay very young. I like Rosario a lot- and he has really come along- but knowing how the Guardians think- with him due 6M and in the last year of arbitration- and with Freeman, Arias, Rocchio, Tena and Martinez in the wings for middle infield- I would be surprised if they do not seriously consider moving him. Personally- I hope they keep him at least 1 more year.

Gives me hope they can resign Bieber- but- as with pitching contracts- long term deals rarely work out. I would give Bieber 4 years- maybe 5--- but even that comes with so much risk.

Phillies have won 10 of their last 11 games. They’re now 2 games up on a wildcard spot. They actually passed the Padres to become the 2nd wildcard in the East.
