I wanted nothing to do with McDaniels. Knew he didn't know what the hell was doing when he drafted Tebow in Denver. And the way he took the Colts job only to turn around and back out of it was a bad look for him. I don't think he's real HC material.
Knowing what we know now about Dipodesta and what he wanted I'm surprised he even had an interview with the guy.

I actually saw Josh McDaniels play H.S. football at Canton McKinely. His dad's an Ohio H.S. coaching legend.

This was Mayfield's most important season, his 3rd. And with the season he had, especially how he cut way down on the int's, I'd say it was a success. And it's probably time for the questions of him being the true franchise QB to stop.
I don't think there's a question on whether or not he can be a franchise qb. The question is...will he?

He played well this year. Stefanski, a running game and arguably the best o-line in the NFL has helped him.

But that's the regular season. Now we have to see how he responds to the pressure of the playoffs. I don't think he needs to beat the Steelers, but he does need to play well. If he doesn't, the questions will continue.

Holy shit. Don't know much about the history of the Dodgers. With the exception of Robinson and the team moving to LA and a few other things. Had no idea from '54 to '96 they only had two managers.

Yep. Walter Alston and Tommy Lasorda. You couldn't have had 2 more opposite personalities either. lol

If things were normal this season I'd agree with you about Mayfield. But he won't have his HC and play caller Kevin Stephanski. The Browns facility is closed for a 3rd straight day. They can't practice. Those are some crazy circumstances going into a playoff game.

Not that fimiliar with Alston. I know he was a great manager. Obviously know about Tommy.

Correction. Just heard on PTI that the Browns facility is now open. They can practice for the first time in more than a week.

If he's a true franchise qb...he'll still play well. It's about handling adversity.

What if he plays well but the Browns lose?

That's proof he's not a franchise QB right?

Like I've said before the Browns were going to have their hands full on Sunday without all the issues they're currently dealing with. Hopefully they'll be competitive.

Did you see JuJu Smith-Schuster's comments yet?

No. In fact, if you read my initial post, I specifically said..."I don't think he needs to beat the Steelers, but he does need to play well" in the post you quoted.

No. What'd Juju say?

Under circumstances not sure he has to play well, but definitely cannot be a glaring reason why they lose if they do.

Of course, they can win and his critics will find reason to "blame" him for the win.

I there have been elite of the elite "true franchise QBs" who have had awful playoff games with their roster in tact, and no one knowing what Covid is. No matter what happens tomorrow, with all this team has dealt with this season he's shown he can handle adversity IMO.

But my guess is if they lose no matter how it goes down he will show his growth and take the blame.

Pretty much said these are the same Browns he's always known.

Curious...did we get to know what your source said about the QBs in last year's draft before the draft?

I don’t remember when I posted about it, but I had the info.

I also posted about Murray and Haskins before the draft the prior year. Even posted about Murray being good on the fantasy football boards before AZ was talking about taking him 1. Back then he was projected as a mid-first player.

Again though, this year might be different because of Covid.

Yeah Murray took a step back in year 2, especially since they added Hopkins, not to the level Baker fell off. We will see in year 3....high potential
