So the NFL appointed Robinson and now they are appealing. Why not just make a decision from the start?
If they appeal and go full season this thing is going to be dangling for a full season in court and Watson will play. Maybe that’s what the NFL wants, for him to play this season and then get suspended for some of next season to fork over A LOT more money
No, the CBA also says that the case will now be handled quickly.

Won’t do a bit of good, the CBA is very clear. They signed it.

You can still argue against a CBA if you feel the league didn't interpret it correctly or handle it within the guidelines of such.

That's the case with any union agreement.

The union looks horrible fighting it, not surprising though.

Adam Schekter on now talking about it. Said the CBA is clear from here. Things MUST be expedited from this point and the NFLs decision is FINAL and BINDING.

Why do you suppose we have a court system? Brady appealed to the federal courts. They declined to hear his case.

In this instance the union and league agreed to a 3rd party arbitrator. The arbitrator explicitly stated her reason for the suspension length. League ignores the decision

I'd be surprised if the courts didn't hear the case.

I would be surprised if they do hear it, the language is as clear as it gets.

Like I said the other day I think the NFL is going to want Watson to pay more fines then maybe add 2 games. They offered Watson 12 from the start and he declined. If they appeal and give him two more, the NFLPA wont appeal and that’s what the NFL wants to increase just enough where the NFLPA won’t take it to court

No, they still have the right to take this to FederaL COURT.
They can ask for it to be heard, yes. What we have here is a federal judge choosing to draw attention to the NFLs horrible record on things like this. She flat out said this case is worse than anything they ever had. She is forcing them to reverse course and make it known that going forward this stuff is serious. No court worth it’s salt will involve itself in something where the agreed to language is so clear.

This is going to wind up in federal court
maybe- but it will just delay whatever the decision is. Watson cant win in federal court. They will just look at procedure- not the actual merits...and the procedure says the NFL can appeal to itself, which while is non-sensical- is what was collectively bargained for.

I believe Vilma did the same thing during the Saints scandal, and he was successful.
