Browns stuff.

Former QB Brock Osweiler has a new gig. CFB analyst on espn, nobody cares. Now the part I forgot about. Somehow the Browns suckered the Texans into trading for him. That resulted in Nick Chubb. Great trade!

And dammit how much more time will Sue Robinson need to announce DW's suspension? This is ridiculous.

The time taken to decide this has been ridiculous.

That alone makes it appeal worthy.

Think there’s a chance anyone will want the NL strikeout leader Patrick Wisdom?
I doubt it.......though he does have a little pop. He is probably more "valuable" to the Cubs then what they would get back for him.

Now- Cubs do have plenty of guys to trade away.

Contreras, Happ, and Robertson should be able to net them something good- especially if they package a couple of them together in a deal.

Wade Miley also might be worth something since there is such a premium on starting pitching- but it obviously hurt his case he got hurt. If not for that, they might have been able to get a pretty decent return.

I would love for the Guardians to get Contreras. I dont know if he will return a top 100 prospect since he is just a rental- but a couple nice prospects might be in the order.

I know federal judges are hurried by no one- but it seems odd it has taken this long. She had the briefs, what? 2-3 weeks ago?

I almost thought last Friday it would come down. I was pretty sure that after last Friday, that this Friday would be it........maybe she wanted one last weekend to sleep on it or to let Watson and the NFL make a deal.

Watson- if he was smart- would say he forfeits last years pay- and take a 6 game suspension this year- and let the league sell it as a 23 game suspension- but he prob. does not want to give up the money and the league is probably too stubborn. I have heard this idea bandied about by a lot of smart people. It would be an ideal compromise on all sides.

Sean Murphy and Taylor Mahle are the guys I hope the Guardians go after.

Reading more on Murphy lately- and he is one of the absolute best defensive catchers in the game - if not the best- and he has some pop in his bat. He would be an immense upgrade- and let Hedges be the backup.

A's are rebuilding and have a ton of talent at catcher in the minors- including one of their big pieces in the Olsen deal from the Braves. Makes a lot of sense on both sides.

Not sure that I really want the Guardians to even trade for an outfielder if its not Reynolds. Happ is good- but I dont want to block guys in the minors or take at bats away from Jones. Kwan and Straw are cemented.

Honestly- Kwan has one of the best contact bats I have seen in a long time. He is what Nick Madrigal was suppose to be- oddly they played together. Madrigal went top 5 in the draft. Kwan went 4th round. Kwan is immensely more valuable now.

@HurricaneDij39 doesnt mean Cubs should give up on Madrigal- but if you have such a lower power profile you gotta have a good obp, and handle the bat. .370 obp for Kwan in his rookie year in such a down year for offense is very very good. If Kwan could even get to 15+ homer power he could be an all star caliber player but I dont know that he will. Maybe eventually he grows into some power.

I have no clue why the Rays pitched to Jose on Friday night. Without Naylor in the lineup because of back spasms the Guardians lack protection for him. Naylor needs to get and stay healthy for them down the stretch.

Between Naylor/Gimenez/Kwan/Jones- I have not seen such a good crop of young hitters for the Guardians in a long long time. They have typically struggled to develop hitting while being the best at developing pitching. Its refreshing to see- esp. considering guys like Arias, Freeman, Valera, are still in the minors.

I think there is a decent chance Arias or Freeman are somewhere else within the next few days. I would give Allen and Arias- 2 top 100 guys- to the A's for Murphy in a heartbeat. Get a good RP thrown in though.

The info is all there. Anything further into training camp is punishment being levied to the Browns

7 or 8 should be the absolute max. Even 10 is bad
AND a serious injury can have a player sidelined for two years and never come back as the player who signed that 10 year deal.

Perfect example of bad injury is taking place as I type. Trevor Story took a fastball directly on the back of his left hand. X-rays, MRIs and Cat Scans have all shown no serious physical damage. Every expert sports medicine doctor and hand surgeon has seen the film. No one can understand why he cannot make a fist. He can't even curl his hand around the handle of a bat. What if it's permanent damage to tendons, ligaments or something else? What if Soto takes a fastball on the same spot?

Mark my words, players gloves will have a flexible Kevlar cover on the exposed hand within two years.

That's the nature of sports. Injuries do happen. They can insure themselves for such things also.

But 10 and 15 year deals are not productive for the sport of baseball.

The NFL always takes way too long to announce these things.

Always.
I agree and this is different. while she was appointed by the NFL, she is not the NFL.

I did figure it would be done by end of this week and it's frustrating, but seems like she does not care about NFL timeline and likely wants to get it right....she also wants to be able to explain her ruling I'd imagine.

I can agree seems like a good compromise (but think 4 might be a bit more fair as even though he has his new deal no one wants to give away 10 mil)

as you alluded, as well, both parties would need to agree and maybe one wont.

Agree with all of this I think. Murphy may depend on Bo Naylor and what they think he will become but more importantly when they expect him to be in the majors. I'm always down to go after the sure thing since I have no clue what Naylor will become.

I'd have traded for any decent OFer before the season (which is why I love this FO as they obviously know much more than the fans) but agree...at this point the guy needs to be a stud to essentially stop the growth of Kwan or Jones, and who knows when they expect Brennan to hit the majors.

Another stud SP would not bother me at all.

A little, but assuming it's the 6-8 games most seem to expect at this point not sure how much would change to this point.

The time taken to decide this has been ridiculous.

That alone makes it appeal worthy.

Browns TC starts today, fans can attend. Dragging this suspension decision out like this is now a punishment for the team.

They can't properly prepare for things until they know the length of the suspension.

I now wouldn't be surprised if the decision is dragged out until the middle of August or later.

How fucked up would it be is this is still going on when the season starts?

as mentioned, if it's the 6-8 games many seem to expect not sure how much it matters. If it's more and they might be thinking of bringing in someone to start instead of JB then that's a major issue.

If it's longer than 6-8 games wonder who they might try to bring in if they aren't sold on JB? What's Phillip Rivers doing right now? I'd have more faith in him than JB.
