Damn. The Nats have kicked it into overdrive and left the Braves in the dust. Even the head to head success the Braves have enjoyed against them seems to rendered irrelevant with such a big lead.
Giants crush Nats game 1 (thanks to some questionable bullpen decisions from Matt Williams)
Nats take game 2. They crush Big Time Timmy Jim early, and Zim cruises from there.
Why in god's name did Blevins stay in for a 2nd inning? I was happy that he retired the side, then I saw him come out for the 2nd and turned to the lady next to me and said "this is going to end badly." I think a blind man could have seen that coming.
As for Detwiler? Meh, he had a bad outing, and I don't have much of an issue leaving him out there to absorb the beating in the 9th. At that point, it was a lost cause so they may as well not use more of the bullpen.
Only Matt Williams knows why he let Blevins pitch a 2nd inning. 100% of Nats fans knew it was a bad idea. Under no circumstance should he have pitched another inning. Also, why is Williams so scared to use the "A" bullpen when the team is trailing by 1-2 runs late in a game?
Well, that was a good inning. The Nats should just do that every inning.
