Man after visiting reddit, it seems there are a lot of UVA haters. Yes they got a ton of breaks and got some lucky shots along the way but champions need that at times. If I'm a UVA fan, I'm still proud of the team no matter what. Fuck all the haters. The karma finally went in their favor for once.
I certainly would have. But, nobody would've said that about Duke if they won this year after their games against UCF and VT. The last sentence is ridiculous, why take credit away from them for winning close games? I disagree with ref help, but that last replay was unfortunate for everyone.
I certainly would have.
As far as ref help, last night's replay wasn't as bad as the double dribble no-call. If that call is made, the game is over. And it's not a subjective call. It was a double dribble. The whistles were swallowed.
Exhibit A in the case against the accuracy and validity of that rating system. A loss to a 16 last year, and very nearly 3 lost games this year says otherwise. Watch games, not stats. This UVA team is like the 4th highest rated team in the KemPom era(2002-2019). And the 2nd highest rated champion ever, behind 2008 Kansas. This is one of the best teams of the last 25 seasons. Probably top 7/8 of the last 25 years if I had to guess off the top of my head.
Team is freaking great.

Of course it means something. Every tournament champ has multiple games against ranked teams. And when you're a #1 seed, you're ranked ahead of every team you play until at least the final four. In Virginia's case, they were ranked ahead of every team they played in the tournament. To say 'this is the 2nd highest rated champion ever, but don't take into account the fact that they nearly lost 3 games' is BS. And the fact that the same team couldn't even get out of the first round as a #1 the year before doesn't help the argument either.I do watch the games. Yes they had 3 narrow wins, against teams that finished ranked #2, #5 and #9. Oh the outrage. And last year doesn't mean shit.

Virginia is experienced, smart, talented, and skilled. That’s why they were the best team in the tournament. Duke was more athletic, but that does not then a better team.
Duke would’ve been given the benefit of the doubt for winning coin flip games for being athletic, UVA doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt for being so sound fundamentally and so skilled.
FWIW, UVA is talented and smart. They don’t have bad players.
I really love how stupid the fans of uptempo games are. When those teams run into teams that play good team D and don't turn the ball over they very often lose. It's then that the morons complain about refs, lucky play and all kinds of shit. It basically prove they don't know shit about basketball and should be watching the NBA.

You didn’t watch the post game conference. Reporter asked about that possession. Beard confirmed he yelled and signed “no 3s”. Team strategy up by 3 with no shot clock, no 3s, no “and 1s”, defensive rebound. The players just fucked up, UVA went aggressive and drove and the guys panicked and crashed leaving the hottest guy on the team to take a shot, which you know he was going to make. Dude had like 20 points in the second half.Texas Tech defense on the final possession of regulation was so stupid. Why leave a guy open at the 3 point lead when you're up 3? You can't leave any shooters at that point.
Will never understand that defensive philosophy of leaving shooters in that situation. You should allow the 2 and walk your ass to ft line to put your team up 3 again
Tech was up by 3. Fucked up left a dude open. Then had a chance to win, rushed a 3 pointer. When Culver pulled up I groaned, I knew he was going to brick it. Off the top of my head outside of Nova last year, UNC in 2009 and UF in 2007 almost every champion has needed some fortunate things to happen.

Yes, I hate when people say a double dribble should have been called. It’s best to ignore that kind of stuff.
jerome dyson getting injured. otherwise unc ain't even on your list.
