That is exactly what it looked like to me. Ginn should be restricted to the return game. he made a nice punt return but he is prety bad as a receiver. When he does see the ball, chances are he's going to drop it anyway.

Yeah, Ghost that could very well could be the only answer there is, but I'm hopeful for something a little more indemnifying.

As for the drops, Ginn looked so much better earlier in the season, now I don't know wtf to make of it. Drops, however, are a problem not exclusive to Ginn.

Perhaps we just need a new WR coach or a sports psychologist intervention, but when it comes to making a critical catch, with the exception of maybe Williams, I would not trust any of our (active) receivers to make a such a catch.

The route was a simple sprint to the Blue Buick, break toward the Red Celica (go-post) which Ginn runs beautifully. He breaks it off at ~25 yards and looks back for the ball but the ball is not in his line-of-sight. He then looks forward to see if the ball is beyond him - nothing, He then looks back toward Smith - still nothing. So that is the explanation I am waiting to hear/read.

Is that end of the stadium open with natural light? Did Smith getting hit cause the ball to float? Did the ball just squirt from Smith's hand (at one point the ball is fluttering so badly the ends of it look almost parallel to the 45 yard line). Did Ginn break his route too shallow? Did Alex throw the ball too deep? Is Ginn involved in some kind of point shaving scam? You get the message.

There is an explanation that goes beyond the usual 'it was miscommunication' bs, but hopefully one of the three (Harbs, Smith or Ginn) will add a little more color than dishing out that answer. And, as previously mentioned, if the only explanation is that Ginn simply doofused the play, then my confidence in Ginn will be on the same level as it was with Crabtree last season.

Being at the game it sure looked like Ginn just lost sight of it. They opened up the roof yesterday which they hardly ever do.

Yeah, and just for the sake of clarity, '83, I completely agree, it does look like he just lost it.

I have now watched this play 30 times if I've watched it once, I then reviewed all of Ginns targets this year and not once has Ginn just 'lost' a pass. So he has no history of this (at least not with us). Even with those overthrows last week you could see he was able to track those passes.

I'm not making any excuses, but I do hope there is an explanation beyond what appears to be obvious.

A little deja'vu.... Didn't this happen to Ginn in a game before? or was it Morgan? that they just lost it in the air when it fell a yard or 2 infront/beside him.

That's the scary part. They all drop the ball. Did you see the one that Delanie Walker dropped in the third quarter which killed a drive? My granddaughter could have caught that. I couldn't believe it.

Same feeling with Edwards, that he had no history of flunking it with the Jets, Browns can't remember, so what's Edwards beef ya know....

You mean the one that hit him in the hands, in front, no zip?

yea.... :drink:... about that one... Walker thought YAC before making the catch, or the would be hit?

"I can't control what goes on on the offensive side," linebacker NaVorro Bowman said. "We just do our job to get them back on the field, and hopefully they do their job."

That's just it Navarro, you didn't do your job. You gave up three ridiculous passes, two for TDs, failed to get to the QB at all in the second half, and you let John Freakin Skelton torch you for almost 300 yards of passing. You need to shut the fuck up.

Wow. You have all the games DVR'd and play-by-play's pinned to your wall for easy reference? (Exaggeration on purpose) I hope you just looked at the incompletes because that might have taken a long time.

I don't want to make a mountain of a mole hill, but why not? Crabtree also said:

"I have no words, really. I saw a lot of opportunities. I really don't want to say anything negative. You know what I'm saying? But it's hard. When you're trying to be the man, and you're trying to do what you're supposed to do, trying to grind it out, trying to be the receiver, and you don't get the ball. It's hard. It's disappointing. I don't know, man. I don't need to be talking right now."

We need to stick together and not start to look for blame (Crabtree didn't do this, but this would be the next step if we have another bad showing). Bowman can't allow 2 of the 3 TDs. Crabtree has to work on getting separation. Smith needs to react quicker and work on his chemistry with the receivers. The oline needs to protect better.

So far it is a mole hill, but if we don't show up well against the Steelers, these two quotes, an anxious fan base, and a media doing what they've been trained to do can add up to a lot.

I don't mean to say you need to sugarcoat what you say, though that may in the future save you from some team implosion, small or big. Say what you mean, but you should mean team, right? You should mean individual improvement and team progress, right? Right now I'm not panicking (sp.?) because it was after a disappointing loss and these guys seem to have a good coach to lead them. I'm not worried, just putting two isolated quotes together. I'm sure Crabtree said other things to make it actually be a better reflection of his team frustrations. Receivers, after all, do want the ball because they think it makes the team better.

You are exactly correct, X! Edwards arguably had has many drops vs. Arizona at Candlestick as he did in 16 games with the Jets.

Edwards dropped ~ 4 passes last year. He caught ~80% of all 'certain catchable' passes and ~70% of all 'certain & possibly catchable' passes while with the Jets last year.

Furthermore, the median distance at POR (point of reception) of those 'certain' and 'certain & possible' passes was 10 yards; which made Braylon especially effective for getting first downs and incredibly efficient on converting 3rd downs.

So, wassup with Braylon - I dunno.

I could have gone all day without looking at that picture... I want to see him with his helmet on, a football in his hands and his feet in the end zone!

Here is Smith's first comment about the deep ball to Ginn:

Q: "The Fade to Ginn and also the deep pass to him, did you guys talk at all about what went on there..."

A: "You know, the deep ball..., I didn't even see, you know, I got hit when it was...I didn't even see the ball come down, didn't know where it went, um, so, and I wasn't even sure what happened..."

The bolded parts of his answer lead me to believe the hit did affect how the ball came out of Smiths hand and thus the trajectory as well. Smith doesn't throw a very 'nice ball' anyway, but this one was especially ugly.

It will be interesting to hear/read how this comment develops after they have a chance to "Singletary" the film.

Ahh. But still, there is some dedication to go back to all of them, though there can't be that many targets.

Stupid loss. But on the bright side, it was a game we could afford to lose. Maybe having this stinker now is a good thing, so that we can regroup and get hot going into the playoffs.

The only bad thing about the loss is it gives us no margin for error for the 2 seed. Maybe the Falcons will do us a favor and beat the Saints in 2 weeks.

I could not disagree more. It was an absolutely critical game and everyone on that team knew it. That is what is so disturbing about it. They had to win that game to stay in the driver's seat for the #2 seed which is the only way the team is going anywhere in the playoffs.
