Change Justin Hunter to Robert Woods

Change Knile Davis to Joseph Randle and I'm in.

I had debated on Banks, Hopkins, Bass, and had thought about the kid from Miami of Ohio, QB Zac Dysert.

I never considered a guard due to our young horses and 2 more years of the FA guard we signed last year from Carolina.

The reason I decided against Hopkins in about the 6th, was because there are decent FA kickers on the market right now, and there is too much value still in 5th to 6th range to take a kicker this year in my opinion. When there are that many great athletes still available I think taking a kicker isn't productive. Now when the talent gets watered down in that range, that is teh year to take the kicker.

I liked Washington and his size and speed in the 5th a little more than I liked Bass in the 6th to 7th.

I think Gooden's combine boosted his stock to potentially late second early 3rd, and so if we are goign to get our hands on him, it would have to be with our later 2nd. Maybe a little early to take him, but when you are not going to have a chance before your next pick, is it really too early?

Which eliminated banks from my draft, because he is not falling to any 3rd round.

Plus, while I think Davis improved his stock greatly at the combine, he still has a realy injury history that is a little scary. However, with a guy with his size and speed, he is a rare talent if capable of staying healthy. Therefore, I think that late 3rd round, just before the 4th may be the ideal spot in taking him, because I think the late 3rd to early 4th is where teams may be willing to take a chance on his injury history with that packaged talent.

With our record of handling injuries, drafting an injury prone RB would prompt me to go ahead and start scouting RBs in the 2014 draft.

Woods looks really good too. I am just so enamoured with Hunters size and speed, that I think he would make an ideal #2 WR opposite AJ. Two guys capable of streaking down the sideline will make teams play an honest defense instead of cheating in.

Then with Davis, he is such a rare athlete with his size and speed, that by the bottom of the 3rd he could be worth the risk. He is a guy capable of running over LB's, or running by CB. That is a rare commodity, and I think worth the risk with that little money on the line. I mean, with my offseason picks of Ivory and you still have BJGE and Peerman as well, Davis becomes a project with potential for getting in on a few plays as the 3rd back to try and hit a home run once in a while.

I have liked Gooden even before the college season ended. I loved how fast he looked on the field, and it was proven both in straight line speed and his fluid hips how capable he is. He is the guy i want most LB wise, but is capable of being had in the later 2nd, so we don't have to avoid getting another great talent like Brown.

You should always be scouting every position no matter how set you are, because someone could always become expendible later on, like Alex Smith did with 49ers. Trade whoever if we have better coming out in the draft.

Well, Randle is also a better RB, so I'd still prefer him. Also, Ivory is a restricted FA, so if we sign him, we lose a draft pick.

I was not aware of the restricted FA thing. Hmmmm....

Well, that changes the thought process a little bit. I had thought I saw he was a straight up FA, but if that is the case, I was looking at a bad source, a typo, or I was thinking someone else who does not have RFA tag on them.

I would rather have Franklin than Randle. Randle did not impress me much with his 40 time. He is a good back that has talent, but if we are wanting to draft a back with home run power, then we have to draft a guy capable of putting up a sub 4.50 time.

Then again, drafting a Randle or Franklin would require a draft pick in the 2nd round. Where as Davis would be late 3rd, so we can acquire more talent at the top of the draft still without sacrificing the home run hitter at RB.

Franklin will probably be available in the 3rd. Same with Randle IMO. Too much depth in the other positions is going to push the RB's down. DL, OL, CB, WR are going to push the other positions down.

40-time has nothing to do with football speed. I don't care much how fast a guy in spandex. Randle is fast on the football field. Watch him destroy Kenny Vaccaro in the Texas game.

Straight line speed in spandex does translate to break away speed though. Maybe he is shifty and has a quick burst of excelleration, but 40 time does mean something once he finds the seam and is going south on the football field trying to avoid being caught from behind.

If Chris Ivory is exclusive rights or something we give up something...Plain ole restricted we lose nothing... Saints will have an opportunity to match but if not he is gone! Did we get anything when Takeo took the Bills deal and asked Marv not to match it???? Noooooooooooooo Ivory needs to be in stripes next season..... It should look like this...

BGE
Ivory
Draft Pick

FB either Connors or Pressley...

It's fun to watch, but meaningless as far as the 40 yard dash. Jerry Rice ran a 4.6-something. You telling me he didn't have speed? Watch a Randle tape and show me where he gets ran down. He has football speed. That's all that matters.

When Jerry Rice entered the draft, offensive tackles weighed 285 pounds, 4.6 wasn't a 'bad' time, full-year training was rare, and most of the modern advances in HGH/steroids were still years away..... You can't compare eras.

Ivory has yet to be tendered. He can be tendered as a 2nd round tender, or a no compensation tender. There is about a 700,000 dollar difference in the tenders. So you have no idea what we would have to give up yet because the Saints haven't done anything. If they sign him to a 2nd round tender we would have to give up a 2nd round pick, and that would be stupid.
