Ok, I keep hearing people talk about, "not wanting to trade picks away because of their value" but the logic of not wanting to trade quantity for value is flawed. Lets think of it like this. The Bengals have two 1st Round picks, if it only took the 17th pick and our 2nd and 4th Round Draft choices, probably around the 53rd pick and 117th picks, to move up the Bengals are still coming out ahead as that 21st pick in reality would amount to our 2nd Round pick, which would still be more valuable than our original 53rd overall pick. So actually the Bengals would really only be losing a low 4th Round pick. If such a trade could be made wouldn't it be worth making for a player the caliber of Trent Richardson? And as far as the holes in the roster are concerned we can all agree that running back, safety, interior line and cornerback are all positions that need to be upgraded. I didn't include wide receiver, defensive line or linebacker because I think injuries effected those positions and the return of Jordan Shipley, Pat Sims and Keith Rivers should improve the production from those spots. So lets assume we make the trade and look at the picks we have left to fill the positions of need and which players at those positions may be available. If the Bengals could come away with Richardson, Gordy Glenn and a CB (Casey Hayward, Coryell Judie or Jamell Fleming) the quality of those selections would far out weigh any quantity of picks traded away.

6th, 53rd, 117th picks- Trent Richardson

Cordy Glenn OG 6'5½" 346 Georgia ranked 26

2nd Round pick- traded

Possible 3rd (approx. 85th overall) Round picks
Brandon Brooks OG 6'4⅝" 353 Miami (OH) ranked 79
Brandon Taylor S 5'11⅛" 202 LSU ranked 81
Markelle Martin S 6'0¾" 203 Oklahoma State ranked 88
Casey Hayward CB 5'10" 188 Vanderbilt ranked 91
Antonio Allen S 6'1¼" 202 South Carolina ranked 92
Stephen Hill WR 6'4¼" 208 Georgia Tech ranked 93

Wouldn't even consider it. Too much RB depth in this class. It' d a stupid trade.

You know my stance on that. I'd be OK if that's the best player, but trading up for one is monumentally stupid, especially in a RB deep class.

1. Richardson is not Peterson. Not even close, just stop please.
2. It's gonna take more than our 1st, 2nd and 4th to move up.
3. We aren't signing a big name FA OG, not happening why would Nicks come here? Brown isn't over paying for him.
4. We need 2 OG not just 1.
5. The drop of from Richardson to the rest of the RB in this class isn't huge.
6. If I was gonna trade up for a player it would be Clairborne.

We can all agree to disagree then. You guys make valid points, and I think August and I made valid points.

It comes down to a matter of opinion now.

By the way, I think there is a huge damn drop off in RB talent once Richardson is gone. It is not even remotely close in talent. Richardson is also ideal for our division, n ot seeing anyone else who is ideal, even though I think Wood could tough it out.

Just saying.

Richardson is a beast in MJD mode...but assuming that we dont sign Nicks, Grubbs or any other FA OG any RB that constantly gets hit behind the line of scrimmage isnt going to be effective. Plus, look at last years rooks. Lots of guys taken after the 2nd were effective. DeMarco Murray went in the 3rd and looks like a stud. Even Roy Helu who wasnt all that impressive at Nebraska was effective. If the O-line is legit the running game will produce.

I agree with that.

However, we have to sign a couple free agents to help us. If we are not going to sign a decent guard in FA, then we have to sign a CB and WR, and that CB has to be Finnegan, as he is the best on the market, and we have to resign Adam Jones. Not sure who the WR would be as there are lots of good WR's so that may be easier to land a top tier WR than G in FA.

Draft:

1: G DeCastro
1: G Glenn
2: RB Wood

Just curious....as to know why you always have to be a condescending piece of shit all the time?

We "have to do" something, is that not an accurate statement? Whether it be only sign fillers, draft the worst players possible in the draft, etc. We "have to do" something.

You can also add Jackie Battle who replaced Jamaal Charles and Earnest Graham who replaced Blount to the list of guys this season. Both undrafted guys. I think Detroit had a guy or two as well.

Inside out, please.

Carlos Rogers is the best CB on the market. I don't want Finnegan. He's a POS.

Finnegan is not a POS. If he played for the Bengals you'd love him. I think he's actually supposed to be a pretty educated and classy guy by NFL standards. Plus, he's got the WASPiest name ever for a black dude. I got no issue with him mixing it up with the WR's.

Cowboys will take a safety, not a corner back.
We can get a CB in free agency

It couldn't be any more inaccurate. That's what makes it so funny.

I can't stand Finnegan. I hope we don't sign him. I'd rather sign:

Carlos Rogers
Tracy Porter
Brent Grimes

I'd be happy w any of them...they're all legit and as Bengals fans we really cant be picky about FA's. We typically scrape the bottom of the barrel.

"Typically" implies we sometimes do not. This is inaccurate. We always scrape the bottom of the barrel.

Jesus dude.

You predict us to have two wins on teh season, we have 9, plus a playoff appearance, we send 4 guys to the probowl including our first two picks, and exceed everyones expectations. We didn't lose Zimmer or Gruden this offseason, and we have a couple first round picks and 45 million in free agency to spend, more than anyone else, and we have to spend 90% of our cap at the minimum this year, next year 99%.

WTF is your deal? You have no decent expectations for this fucking team or what??
