Why don't they just sign a fucking veteran WR for the #2? Because they're the fucking Bengals.

While we scored with a second rounder in Dillon

Dillon was a 6th rounder if I remember. He didn't even play his last season of college...was injured I think.

Yep, no way we move up in the draft. I could see Mikey giving away a 1st rounder for additional or future picks. But not to move up and grab something we really need.

I still think we need a leader on defense. Nobody has stepped up. Perhaps a Luke Kuechly with a hard nose for the football would be nice.

Dillon was a 2nd rounder in 1997.

Some people have foresight while others don't. It's going to be funny to see how some resident draft "experts" will explain how their future mock will include a trade up for Richardson. And just so no one can say that I copied this mock, my mock was created 2 days prior to the website's.

my mock created: 02-05-2012, 04:23 PM

6. Cincinnati Bengals (trade w/ WSH)- Trent Richardson RB 5'11" 224 Alabama

mockingthedraft.com created:Feb 7, 2012 3:43 PM EST

Trade - The Cincinnati Bengals trade the 17th overall pick and their 2nd rounder to the Dolphins for the 8th overall pick.

8. The Cincinnati Bengals select: Trent Richardson, Running Back, Alabama.

The Dolphins were hoping that Couples would have fallen to them to help the transition back to the 4-3. But with him gone, the Dolphins take a slight loss in trade value to drop back. The Bengals take opportunity of a pretty good deal on their half to move up to 8 and fill a huge need for them. With Cedric Benson a free agent, the Bengals need a running back. Trent Richardson has some scouts saying he's better than Adrian Peterson was when he came out. I'm not sold on that, but Richardson is very good in his own right. He can run with power, but also has that elusiveness that makes him incredibly hard to bring down. Add him to the Bengals running attack and he takes a load off of Andy Dalton's shoulders.

I'd be thrilled if they traded up to get Richardson. This, of course, will never fucking happen.

Never going to happen.

For years draft sites have put out trades for the Bengals moving up. It simply doesn't happen.

If they swapped firsts and moved up 9 spots to get Richardson and only had to give up an additional 2nd rounder, I'd be ecstatic. But I don't see it happening.

It was posted by someone else to make the points work it would take like out 1, 2, 3, 4 and another one or something like that. Brown isn't going to do that when we are 10th in the league in players drafted still in the league. We get to much value for those picks.

Not only that, Tubbs, but I think everyone knows this team has more holes than just finding a RB.

As we've all agreed, no matter WHO the RB is...if the guard play isn't upgraded significantly, unless you got Barry Sanders back there, it won't matter one lick.

The Guard play also is needed for better passing. While the line was in the top half of least amount of sacks allowed, I believe (opinion since I'm not going to go back and watch every pass play) many of the designed plays were of the 3 step drop variety. In order to truly stretch the field more with Gresham and AJ, Dalton is going to need more time to have more 5 step drops.

If the Bengals find some way to sign Grubbs, Nicks, Meachem, find a solid #2 CB, and a safety out on the F/A market, and retrain some of their own F/A's...then...Maybe I could see where RB would be the biggest need in the draft...We all KNOW that's not happening.

Besides, Marvin loves his picks, and loves value for picks. I just don't see him giving up multiple picks for one player. Again, especially when this team has a lot more holes than just RB.

LOL @ some of you people geting your panties in a bunch. At least there's some creativity in this mock as opposed to the same bland mocks posted over and over again with a few names switched around here and there.

At least those "bland" mocks are realistic.

I wouldn't even want to move up. We have multiple holes, and trading away a bunch of draft picks to get a RB in what appears to be a pretty good RB class is stupid.

Trades happen every year in the draft. To throw some trades into the mix is not for "entertainment", they fit in perfectly fine with any reasonable mock draft.

But if you like bland, then so be it.

I don't care about bland. I care about burning picks to get a RB in a deep RB class.

That's all well and good, if your team has a history of trading up.

The Bengals don't.

So, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Especially when mutliple needs can be met through the draft. Trading away multiple picks for 1 player is just silly.

If we could trade our #17 pick, our 2nd round pick NEXT year, and this yeaers 4th round pick, I would be very happy with that, and would love to have Richardson. Richardson is built for the AFC North. We need a fast bowling ball running between the lines.

#1: RB Trent Richardson
#1: OG Cordy Glenn
#2: WR Mohamed Sanu
#3: CB Trumaine Johnson
#4: Traded Away for Richardson
#5: S Kelcie McCray
#5: ILB Shawn Louiseau
#6: C Moe Petrus
#7: DE Scott Solomon

That would be a sick draft right there. CHAMPIONSHIP!! :first:

Add Finnegan and Nicks through FA and we are golden.

It's a mock draft. What you think may happen. Neither August nor his mock draft will have any influence on what the Bengals actually do.

And very few teams, if any, have a "history" of trading up. Very few teams also ever have the tradeable assets that we have. Do I expect us to trade up? No. But if there ever were a year it might happen, it would be this year.
