This is all moot. Mike Brown isn't going to sign any of these guys for what they're asking. Finnegan is being courted by the Lions, Cowboys, Rams, and a few others. Mike Brown isn't ponying up that kind of money.

Crash, Finnegan is not WAY better than any of those CBs. ProFootballFocus lists Grimes as the top CB and the 2nd highest player in all of free agency after Mario Williams. Saying he's far better is a ridiculous statement.

I would not say it is ridiculous. I have eyes.

I would put Revis, Champ Bailey, J Joe, Brandon Flowers, Devin McCourty, and maybe Antonio Cromartie all considerably above Finnegan, and thats only AFC guys.

I would only put Revis, Bailey and JJoe better out of those 5 you listed, than Finnegan.

And so do the people paid to analyze these things, and more often than not, Finnegan isn't the top ranked guy. Sorry if I take the opinion of professionals over yours.

Lol I was going to rep this but I cant right now.

Life in the Bengals board man, I'm sure they saw him play well once at some point down the road.

So you want to pick 1 list out of the bunch, and say that one is the most accurate because it has Finnegan 1st. LOL.

And I already said that some lists did have Finnegan first. Just that it's by no means unanimous among experts, so there's no way you can say definitively that he's the best. I like you, but that's a ridiculous statement to make.

"More often than not the top ranked guy" is a FAR cry from a laundry list of CB's better than him which you'd like us to believe.

And you said something about taking the opinion of professionals...?

Reading comprehension failure. I said that experts can't agree on who is best, so Crash can't say for sure that Finnegan is FAR better. He can like him more if he likes. That's opinion. He can't state one of them is better than the others as though it's fact. I said they're all very close, and since I hate Finnegan, I prefer one of the others. Nowhere did I say there was a "laundry list" of guys better.

Speaking of "reading comprehension failure"....the only thing I brought to light was your hypocrisy in attempting to use "I value professionals opinions more than yours" as part of your argument.

"Grimes is better. Rogers is better, but older. Webb is better, but restricted. If we sign him, I can't root for him."

"Grimes would be a better signing, and I'd take Carr and Tracy Porter over Finnegan is well. "

When you put him at the bottom of the list (percentage wise) of available 1st-2nd tier CB's, it's a "laundry list", not matter the actual size.

LOL. You using hypocrisy in a sentence is hypocrisy in itself. I would take all of those guys over Finnegan because I HATE Finnegan. Also, I never said I anything about valuing anybody's opinions. I used the fact that there are so many varying opinions that Crash can't state as a fact that Finnegan is better. Crash's opinion that Finnegan is the best isn't more valid than the opinions of the guys who do it for a living. It's all opinion, but there are enough differing opinions that it can never be stated as fact that one is better. That's laughable. I like Grimes. I think he's the best of the FAs, but it's my opinion, and not fact.

The fact that he'll be coveted in FA speaks to what NFL teams with actual GM's and personnel think. He's no Lav Coles. He wont last long on the market if he gets there at all. Of course he's not Revis (only Revis is Revis) but he's a starting CB for any NFL roster and also despite being called a POS has good intangibles. Stays out of trouble off the field. Fierce competitor on it. If that's a POS we need a roster chock full of POS's

All of those guys will be coveted in FA, and all will quickly find homes.

I'm pretty sure we're not signing any of those guys for that matter. Mike Brown isn't going to spend that.

If I could pick one FA that will realistically hit the market I'd take Carl Nicks...
