Grimes, Porter, Carr, Rogers, even Webb (restricted) would all be preferable to Finnegan.

Harrison is also a piece of garbage. Suh is also a piece of garbage.

I would take both guys on my team any day.

If the transgressions that make them "pieces of garbage" are on the field and not off the field, and they are still in the league, they're probably doing something right.

I agree..... If the guys are staying clean off the field and are causing minimal disruption on the field, why the worry? Finnegan has a long history with Andre Johnson which led to a suspension of both players - One could argue that he did his job there. Getting Johnson out of the game is a good play.

What else has the guy ever done?

Benson beat the living snot out of his boyfriend, that's worse than Suh's "head stomp", so I guess I see your point, sorta.

Harrison, on the other hand, can cost his team penalties in big games when he gets over excited. Suh has longer longevity I think, Harrison was born in 1978.

I'd take Suh, but not Harrison.

Oh I'd take Finnigan in a heart beat. Damn good player, but I wouldn't even begin to put Grimms, Porter or Carr over Rodgers.

Finnigan is one of my 6 or 7 most hated players in the league. If we sign him, I'll be rooting for injury or that he's burnt so often, he gets benched and released. Can't stand him.

By the way, the AJ incident isn't his only one: In September 2010, Finnegan was fined $5,000 for throwing New York Giants wide receiver Steve Smith to the ground by his helmet. In October 2010, Finnegan was fined $10,000 for unnecessary roughness after hitting Denver Broncos guard Chris Kuper after Kuper's helmet was off. After this incident, the NFL warned Finnegan that similar violations in the future could lead to increased discipline.

I don't care about the penalties or if he is dirty or not. We need a guy like that on this team. Put a nasty streak in this D.

There are plenty of good CBs. He's not the only CB that is a FA. Grimes is better. Rogers is better, but older. Webb is better, but restricted. If we sign him, I can't root for him.

So, basically what you're saying is we should take your opinion of him with a grain of salt.

There are far better CBs than Courtland Finnegan. And many more that aren't such pieces of shit.

Finnegan is a good coverage corner, and hits like a safety. He plays with a mean streak, and he is a hell of a player. Him and Bullock of Tennessee always made me nervous when we played them.

I would call Finnegan one of my top 5 corners in the AFC. I would even say Finnegan is better than Hall, even though I think Hall is very good, just not as good as Finnegan.

We need a good corner, and I figure we will not be able to meet Finnegans price for his age, but make no mistake about it, Finnegan is better than ANY of those guys you listed. Just the way it is.

This is all moot. Mike Brown isn't going to sign any of these guys for what they're asking. Finnegan is being courted by the Lions, Cowboys, Rams, and a few others. Mike Brown isn't ponying up that kind of money.

Crash, Finnegan is not WAY better than any of those CBs. ProFootballFocus lists Grimes as the top CB and the 2nd highest player in all of free agency after Mario Williams. Saying he's far better is a ridiculous statement.

I would put Revis, Champ Bailey, J Joe, Brandon Flowers, Devin McCourty, and maybe Antonio Cromartie all considerably above Finnegan, and thats only AFC guys.

God forbid we sign a guy that actually hits someone..... The dude plays aggressively - At times he has crossed over the line and made cheap plays. Same can be said for Hines Ward and I would have gladly signed him when he was in his prime.

footballisfuture.com lists Finnegan 3rd behind Grimes and Rogers.

walterfootball lists Webb and Carr ahead of Finnegan.

CBS lists Carr and Grimes over Finnegan.

I don't think it's clear that Finnegan is far better than the others.

I don't think we need a CB who hits. We need a CB who can cover Mike Wallace and Torrey Smith. Finnegan is good, but Grimes, Carr, Porter, Rogers are just as good, and I personally prefer them because I hate Finnegan.

I hate a lot of people. Doesn't mean I wouldn't root for them if they were signed. I'd rather have Finnigan that Grimes every day of the week, WAY more than Webb. Carr had a down year without a GREAT safety in Berry behind him, he won't have that here. Only player I might put ahead of Finigan is Rodgers and he is 3 years older.

Berry was out all year. Carr is really good. These guys are all about the same, that's why every list you go to has a different one as the best. Some have Finnegan, some have Carr, some have Webb, a few have Rogers, a lot have Grimes. I'd say that's evidence that they're isn't a huge difference from one to the next in terms of ability.
