My granddaddy had one of these when I was a kid. I loved that car even then.

this one is up right now for 19k. 429 in it?

I didn't see the auction, but if it only went for 19 grand, I doubt it had the 429 SCJ. Probably 351 Cleveland.
But you never know, the market crashed on muscle cars when everything else crashed.

Wow, can't say I've ever seen one of these in person...and that's cool!

Yeah, you don't see those in the Muscle Car category. The Rambler American was the Muscle Car of the Ramblers.
Actually, the Rambler Scrambler was THE muscle car and ruled the dragstrips for a year or two. They only came in 1 flavor. Red, white, and blue paint, posi rearend, 4-speed, and AMC 401ci if memory is right about engine. Public didn't like the paint scheme, and Ramblers were hard enough to sell so a lot of dealers had to repaint them in 1 color to sell them. I'd love to find one. I miss my '66 Galaxie 500 2dr with the 428cj that needed a front suspension and an eng rebuild. I couldn't afford the repairs and sold it. I also like the Superbee, GTX, and similar Mopars. I'd like a mid-'60's Olds 442, and one of those amphibious cars from the '60's.

When I was young, the neighbors had matching '63 Split window Stingrays. His & Hers with the license plates 1 # different. I grew up thinking I'd do the same, but found out they're not good daily drivers and are mostly for the status. At my age (mid 50's), I've had over 50 different vehicles covering nearly every brand of cars, vans, pick-ups, convertibles, and a handful of motorcycles. I've had as many as 6 at a time and mostly at least 2. My parents used to remark about my used car lot, but I guess I just get bored with the same car and get something else that strikes my fancy.

I love all cars made before 1970. After that it gets a little different until recently.

I'd go to '71, after that the insurance and fuel crisis pretty much killed the muscle car.

And I like the '64 GTO as well, the first factory ordered muscle car.
I bolded that because the '64 Thunderbolt would still kick everything else's ass...

The Thunderbolt was a race only car. The only made 100 of them. That is another class of car altogether. Badass car, but not really a street legal muscle car.

1971 Mach 1

This is just down right sexy!!

Not bad but you should familiarize yourself with the 1969 428 CJ Mach 1 or the 1969 Boss 302 if You like Stangs. The 1971 was boxy, stiff and eh...
