Pitt just became my favorite team in the East. Best of luck, Crankshaft. The remaining players on this team combined don't have half of your 'heart'. F'in pussies, each & everyone. :gaah:

This is a good trade for the Sharks. I hope this is the beginning of a rebuild. This squad needs to be blown up but above all else, I am happy for Douglas Murray. A guy who leaves it out on the ice every night, always down to deliver the big hit and get on one knee to block a shot or two or three or four. Murray's skills, mainly his speed and overall skating ability have greatly diminished over the past few seasons but not his heart. I am happy that Douglas gets to go play for a team in Pittsburgh that has a TON of heart and a great chance to win a Stanley Cup.

Burns will be back on D, once they trade Boyle to Philly or NYR.

Agreed. Burns needs to be back on D, he is getting paid to be the power play QB on the blue line.

Sad thing is, Burns has been one of the better forwards on the team since they moved him up there. Show's how bad things are....

Haha, great Tweet from @DownGoesBrown:

“Based on the acquisitions of Morrow and Murray, I think it’s safe to say the Penguins are going all-in on winning the 2010 Stanley Cup”

And another one I saw somewhere else:

Murray is so slow he won't arrive in Pittsburgh for another two weeks.

Sad to see Murray gone as he was one of the Sharks that gave up his body for the team when others did not, but this is a good deal for the Sharks. Watching Murray out there was pretty painful over the past 2-3 years. Teams would continually attack his side of the ice and gain easy entry into their offensive zone.

I doubt he's getting re-signed after opposing forwards start skating around him so much, so I'm rooting for the Pens to reach the ECF. Best of luck Douggernaut!

Well, he's a FA after this year, right?

Maybe Dougie can re-sign him in the off-season...

great trade. Murray was gone after the year was over and with burns healthy and irwin adding much more, there was a bit of a logjam on D. A couple 2nd rounders isnt a huge return but its a whole lot better than nothing and its a good deal for making the team faster, younger, cheaper, and building the future. I would give this deal an A.

Now, the question is what happens to clowe. if dougie can land a 1st round+ for him, then we will have 2 1sts and 2 2nds in the next draft which should land 4 legit prospects for the rebuild.

Besides losing clowe and murray makes the team better, not worse since both are aging and too slow for the new NHL. Desi can handle the mitts well enough and clearly burns and stuart can throw the body too. That part of the game is not that needed now, I think, and I like the direction dougie is going with this move.

If Clowe goes who will keep the other teams honest? We have fucking no toughness what's so ever on this team. Ohyeah we have Wingles but he had his lunch feed to him by Torrey Mitchell :wtf: . Dejardins is a option but nothing too exciting. I don't see any player on our blueline that other teams forwards have to worry about. All I see is a bunch of stick checkers on our blue line. But ohwell this season has sucked soo far!

Ask Landeskog what he thinks about that. Demers deals out his fair share of big hits as well. I'm not too worried about the physicality from the dmen.

a good PP keeps other teams honest. Murray and clowe just run around taking bad penalties and are slow. In the new NHL, speed is the key much more than physicality. One sided goods arent needed anymore, and desi is good enough to handle that part of the game. Stuart can hit and they still have impressive size up front even without clowe. I dont need a guy who is slow, produces little or nothing, and takes bad penalties to keep other teams honest. I, too, am not worried about the physicality and I like the blueline with irwin over murray, not to mention for nearly 2M cheaper on the cap.

What a stud...

(I mean, it's nice that the Sharks won and it was a good trade that had to be made and all that, but still...)

Anybody excited to see how Murray will do today? I'm sure we will see a Murray smash high light tonight. Wouldn't it be funny if Murray gets a goal?

The east is alot faster then the west I look forward to him being a pylon in a different jersey and of course supplying the excellent table hockey defense for the pens

Yeah this is what I see happening. I think the Pens see 3-5 games worth of his play and start giving him 10-12 minutes a night. Then perhaps eventually, peg him as a 7th dman.

I am sorry to see the guy go - big heart.. I never got the sense he took a night off but to get 2 2nd round picks is good for us and he has NO chance of hoisting any hardware with this team as it is. I hope he gets a taste of the finals and wish him well!
