if we have learned anything from Gronks injury ... & Reed always getting hurt ...

we should invest a late round pick every year towards TE

just throwing darts hoping to find someone with hands

because TE take a beating ... & the human body can only take so much

lol ... we cant go all Danny over paying for old TE either

if we are going to over pay for a player .... then it should be at a position of need ... which is not at receiver

but NOSE TACKLE ...

D

FENCE

Oh I agree. But I dont think paying Davis would be an over pay at $5m or less. And if we cant find an NT either in the draft, or with $20 million in cap space AFTER resigning Davis, KC, PG, DJ , CB and TN.... our GM needs his AZZ kicked.

As cheap as I am, isn't it funny that I have been reasonably accurate with regard to these contracts and what would be offered?

I am guessing DJ will get 8ish, PG will get 6ish, KC will get 23ish, VD will get 3ish, and CB will get 8ish.

And if we cant find an NT...

the trick with these big guys is we need multiple options...

one wont cut it

the big fatties need a breather ... but having multiple options would also breed competition

if we can substitute in 2 or 3 Wilforks ... look out

i just dont like investing in Jackson ... he is a huge threat ... but too fragile to be worth that investment

considering how many holes we have to fill

I dont like stripping the offense that is carrying the team and hoping a few rookies and a guy coming off injury can make up for the production we are currently getting.

if we are prepared to pay 24 for QB ... then he is going to make it happen with less

the expectation being he is going to turn players like Mo Harris into house hold names

the reason why the Saints were able to trade Graham without skipping a beat

And what have the Saints done since?? If the difference in signing him and not signing him was a young Vince Wilfork, i would agree with you. But Reed is injury prone, so is Carrier, and so is Niles. $5m for a starting caliber TE who can stay healthy is not going to break my heart.

the issue with the Saints does not lay with the offense ... they're a threat to outscore anyone.

their problem goes back to their Gregg Williams & their defense.

the issue with signing Davis to 5 is he is slow ... and teams will adapt.

Dude... IM not saying Davis will get $5 million a year. But he should be brought back, and I dont think $5m a year would be an over pay.

speaking of gregg ..

does anyone else play that game in their mind.... what if ...

what if ...

after the old ball coach left ... what if Marvin Lewis took the helm as HC. Where would we be now ?

OR

after Gibbs left ... what if Williams took the helm ?

We could be putting bounties out and no one could stop us.

something tells me Danny boy doesnt favor defensive coaches.

My guess is Davis gets resigned, his cap number is around $3.5 million..... The tight wads of the board scream we over paid him not even considering that the other three TE's we currently have on roster ALL have injury histories.

If we are going to build the defense, it should NOT be by spending big money on free agents. We need to DRAFT defensive players that have a shot at being here for a while. Our offense works and works well.. so its worth paying to keep them together.

i hope Davis is resigned ... and can play until he is 82 & 1/2

but we need to invest in the defense.

that means choosing between Jackson & Garcon.

I choose Garcon

Again dude, I think we can resign all three and still have $20 million or more in cap space. And if we are going to invest in the defense it should be through the draft, not free agency.

Because we KNOW Davis works in this offense. This team is going to live or die based on the offense for at least two more seasons. Keep the offense together and build the defense. I would rather resign Davis and Draft a D-lineman than pay big money for a FA Dlineman and HOPE we can find a rookie TE that can produce.

well, Norman escalated the secondary

we could do something similar on the DL
