Jeebus.

Just pay the man already.
This year Cousins is:

5th in QB Rating (behind brady, ryan, prescott, brees)
4th in completion percentage (behind sam bradford - HA!, Brees, Brady)
1st in Yardage
7th in touchdowns
4th in Yards per attempt (behind Ryan, Brady, Prescott)
3rd in Yards per game (behind brees, ryan)

If you include the last 8 games of last year, the numbers don't go down.

Cousins is a franchise qb.

we cant till march but this isnt any real reporting here , anyone with a pulse knows we will tag him and resign him to a long term deal

the only thing that might change is he might not sign the tender

So I was doing a little comparing last night. He is the 13th highest paid QB this year. As much as he is getting he is still under paid compared to his ranking. He is really not out of line with his requests and the Redskins NEED to step up.

Redskins sign Cousins to long term deal

Yep - no question now. I suppose that they could go with the tag next season. However - that would not be in Cousins' best interest since any injury sustained next season would then cost him a lot of $$. It would also be in everyone's best interest to not have this thing hanging over his head for another season.

They will give him a huge contract w/ a very big bonus (likely not the biggest but rt up there). No reason for anyone to get too upset at this - this is the price of doing business in the NFL & a byproduct of having a very good QB which is a good thing.

They will sign him to a long term deal. It will be large and some will bitch about it. But in 2-3 years, it will not seem that large as QB prices are rising significantly every year. Since it ain't our money, I'm not going to worry about it. My only concern is the FO tries to get too cute and play some games with KC, thereby insulting him, setting the tone for ugly negotiations and a possible balk by KC to signing anything and taking the tag one more year then bolting. I think that is a long shot, but its not completely out of the question. Make him a fair offer, just as they do when they bring in any other blue chip FA that is coveted greatly. Treat him like they treated Norman when he came here. They asked him in and basically wouldn't let him leave until they hammered out a deal. They treat KC like he is wanted and valued, and he will ink a deal. I believe he is looking at that as much as he is the final dollar amount.

If they go through the rest of this season and/or don't sign him before the SB, he gets another FT.

Franchise tag remains in play for Kirk Cousins in 2017, per reports

?? As per this article they can't enter into negotiations until the season is over. Also - as per this article - in spite of what was shown after the Packers game - both sides are close w/ each other & there are no bad feelings. They will get this done - just have to work out the guaranteed money. It won't be cheap, but hey this is all the result of superior play on the field so it is worth it.

That's what I wrote....get through this season and don't sign him before the SB. Oh I get it you're assuming a SB appearance this year. While optimism is always better than pessimism, I don't believe that this is the year we make the SB, hopefully, a playoff game or two. There are just too many questions on the defensive side of the ball. Hopefully, next year with better upgrades on defense.

League rules.. we cant sign him to a new deal until the 2017 season starts at this point. But seriously if any one thinks he STILL needs to prove something, aside from taking us to and winning a Super Bowl... what more does he need to do?? He could suck the rest of the season and would still probably break almost every franchise passing record... again. If he had a middle of the pack defense, people would be asking he question who are the Skins going to be facing in the Super Bowl.

That's not what I said. They can't sign him before the SB - period. Read Shark's reply - thx. You always try to portray me as some type of homer which obviously shows that you don't read my replies correctly.

Agree. Some of those fans should go root for the Browns since their "franchise" QB may be playing in the next few weeks. I hear you about the D but believe that it will get much better next season.

Look at how much fun this guy is having. No way that he wants to be anywhere but in DC. Get this done over the offseason so that the team can achieve the ultimate goal within the next few years.

I agree. I think he just wants to be appreciated and not jerked around. Tell me Gruden doesn't want him see also. They are actually very similar in personalities. I love how KC gives credit to everyone else first and is always thinking team, not I. What a refreshing change........

Remember at the beginning of the season when there were rumors that even w/ Cousins at the helm there was dissension & doubts about Kirk? First of all I believe that those were BS, and secondly even if accurate those days are long gone. What teammate wouldn't love this guy?

I can't imagine there is any. I could see where maybe garçon and Jackson might be a bit frustrated with their touches this year, but I don't see how they could hold KC responsible for that. I think this whole contract issue and the FO leaks are mostly just speculation and stirring of the pot by the media since they really dont know what is going on. Its like most people in life. When they dont know what is actually happening, they assume the worse. I'm on record saying that KC will be signed to a very lucrative long term deal in relatively short order once the new league year opens. God help us with all of the rumors and speculation if it doesn't happen within the first few days.
