Anything that gets Smoak off my TV is a good deal.

Well, our infield is pretty much set. Now we need to make a move with all of these extra parts to land someone out in the outfield.

God damn it, thought we'd be able to resign him.

IF, and that's a big IF, he stays healthy, it will be a superb deal.

This is good, I mean he has as many strikeouts as he does hits but we need some kind of power in this lineup. I like the Logan Morrison Trade we need some depth in the OF we dont have anything out there

Love this signing. When healthy he can put up the numbers Morales does without commanding the same salary.

The Logan Morrison signing eh not seeing that. I prefer Smoak over him. Much better defense and better plate discipline.

glad about hart

i was actually talking about him with some of my angels buddies.

a right handed bat that we desperately need, and while smoak might turn out to be a league average guy, hart has shown that he could do as well or better. plus he can play OF, too.

excellent signing.

I'm not sure this is a direct competition for Smoak's job. I think Hart either stays in RF or DHs most of the time. In the end, I think the additions of Cano and Hart will benefit guys like Smoak.

Morrison on the other hand really could be the one to push Smoak, though with the outfield problems in Seattle, he could just be their plan for left field. He has shown some power in his career, though his average has been a little low.

Right now, unless the Mariners trade Smoak, I still see him as the starting firstbaseman. Now, there isn't anything to say that Smoak won't be traded, as the Mariners have been surprisingly active this offseason.

In the end, if there are enough good bats to push Smoak down to the #7 hole, he'll be much better. Right now, the order would look something like this, IMO:

Miller SS
Ackley CF
Cano 2B
Hart DH
Seager 3B
Morrison LF
Smoak 1B
Saunders RF
Zunino C

I worried a bit about Corey Hart's home and away splits but on a 1 year contract this is a great deal for the Mariners.

I still hope they retain Morales though. Morrison has potential but I would much rather see Corey Hart in left field with Morales at DH. I think that gives the Mariners a much superior lineup.

I like the LoMo trade and Hart signing. I woke up to see we had made moves that I was happy about! We pretty much told to Choo to stick it then haha.

Which is great, Choo (Boris) was asking for $15m a year. Ridiculous.

Reports are that the M's are still trying to get Choo, they just don't want to pay him $22 million (neither does Texas) and so I am sure if he was only asking for $15 million the team would consider paying that.

If Choo wanted $15m per I'm sure the Mariners would have already extended him a contract offer. He is just asking for too much money. I say the Mariners should extend Choo a reasonable offer then just sit back and wait.

The thing I like about Hart is that he's right-handed and capable of hitting lefties pretty well (something the M's desperately needed). Morrison's a lefty who, so far, hasn't shown the ability to hit lefties. It's a small sample size, so maybe he shows that he can hit lefties at better than a .183 clip at some point, but I can see the M's picking up another outfielder who can hit lefties better to platoon with him. Or they could just re-sign Guti to be the 4th outfielder/defensive replacement/pinch hitter against lefties.
